Day 1: Monday, April 20 Welcome to Israel! Airport Pick-Up at Ben Gurion Airport Check-in to the Carlton Boutique Hotel, Tel Aviv, rest and freshen up Depart from hotel and walk to restaurant Welcome Dinner at Mel and Michelle Restaurant * Mel and Michelle, an intimate restaurant featuring Chef Nir Wayman. Chef Wayman creates classic Italian cuisine, infusing each dish with exceptional artisanal accents. The combination of delicious fare paired with Israeli wines and the charming ambiance will make this a perfect first night in Tel Aviv. Stand airside on the tarmac, while watching F-16 fighter jets take to the open skies. Depart from air force base and drive to daycare Clara Balinsky Daycare Centre * Enjoy a visit to one of our six daycares and be sure to give our CHW children a huge hug. Assaf Harofeh Medical Center * See the new state-of-the-art CHW Marla Dan Stroke and Invasive Neuroradiology Institute. Enjoy lunch with Dr. Benny Davidson, Director General of Assaf Harofeh Medical Center. Depart from hotel and drive to Crystal Residence Home Hospitality * Experience the warmth of home hospitality as Canadian ex-pats Betty and Jack Crystal welcome Mission participants to their Tel Aviv home for dinner. Yom Ha Zikaron Ceremony in Rabin Square * Commemorate the beginning of Yom Ha Zikaron at one of the largest Remembrance Day ceremonies in Israel. As the siren sounds, stand shoulder to shoulder with your Israeli brothers and sisters, honouring the lives lost in combat. Overnight: 5-star accommodation at the Carlton Boutique Hotel, Tel Aviv 2
Day 3: Wednesday, April 22 Experience Yom Ha Zikaron at Nahalal Youth Village and celebrate Israel s Independence at Mini-Israel Breakfast at the Carlton Boutique Hotel, Tel Aviv Depart from hotel and drive to CHW Nahalal CHW Nahalal Youth Village * Participate in CHW Nahalal s annual Yom Ha Zikaron activities and miniceremony. Stand amongst students as the second siren sounds throughout Israel. After this meaningful moment, meet CHW Nahalal graduates who are currently serving in the IDF and hear their personal stories. Following this special experience, enjoy a hearty lunch with youth from the dormitories. * While at Nahalal, have a meaningful visit to the cemetery on the moshav. This is the resting place for many prominent Israelis, including Moshe Dayan, a graduate of CHW Nahalal and Israeli Defense Minister; Ilan Ramon, the first Israeli astronaut; and Ilan's son, Assaf, who was killed during his military service at the young age of 21. Depart from hotel and drive to Mini Israel Mini Israel * Witness the incredible transition that takes place as the day of mourning comes to a close and Israelis begin to celebrate the country s independence. Security Fence * See the fence and hear a detailed analysis of its strategic significance. Western Wall * As the sun begins to set on this last night in Israel, the Mission will visit one of Israel s most important sites for the Jewish world, the Western wall. Farewell Dinner and Party at Darna Restaurant * This last dinner together will be filled with laughter and fun, while recalling memories of our time spent on the Mission.
