International Fellowship of September 2015 Quarter Newsletter FNQ ROTARY OLD CROCKS Great Barrier Reef Masters Games Cairns 2015 The September newsletter is a bit late and had nothing to do with cricket. I have been celebrating the NRL COWBOYS NRL premiership for two weeks now (the game result is the same after 17 replays!!!) but it is time to move on and discuss happenings within IFCR Australia since June 2015. I have had a couple of visitors to FNQ in that time. Patrick and Elaine O Shea visited Cairns for the Cairns to Cooktown Cardiac Challenge a 333 kilometre bike ride raising money for the Cardiac Unit for Cairns Base Hospital and David and Jan Horsley visiting with the Masters Hockey Championship in Cairns.

During your stay in Chennai (after the Conference) there will be alternative days of sightseeing and cricket. Richard is seeking expressions of interest. You may do it by email to rgroom@iinet.net.au or by calling Richard on (03) 9836 2516 or completing the expression of interest form attached to the newsletter. Members tour of Tasmania Don McQueen is keen to organise a tour of Tasmania prior to the next Australian Festival with a view to attract new members from Tasmania and hopefully have them come to Wagga in 2016. Details will be provided in the near future however Don is looking to see if there is enough interest in members attending a tour to promote IFCR in Tasmania. If you are interested can you please complete the expression of interest form and return to the Fellowship.

International Fellowship of Future World Festivals The next festival after New Zealand is scheduled for 2020. Any IFCR member country can submit a proposal and this proposal would need to be presented at the New Zealand Festival. It was decided at Bendigo that we would investigate whether we want to lodge a proposal for the 2020 Festival to be in Australia. Over the next six months the Board will be looking at potential locations. Suggestions to date include Melbourne, Cairns, Sunshine Coast. We will need members to volunteer to do some preliminary investigations of these possible locations. If anyone would like to assist can you please send me a note at my email address on the newsletter. Local News Section A message from Tony Plant (Bendigo) Recently, in our club we had a terrible tragedy in that Peter Ryall who was one of my great helpers at the Bendigo festival took his own life. Those who attended Bendigo Festival will probably remember that Peter was the little guy who was always around to answer questions and cover me when I was off playing cricket and generally not knowing what I should be doing. He also prepared copious notes that he forwarded on to assist the Wagga Wagga people in their future planning. It has been a terrible shock to us all and we are all going to miss him greatly. I thought that persons who attended Bendigo might like to know this terrible news.

International Fellowship of IFCR Australia History To assist in future recognition of participation milestones, the Board has created the following schedule of past tours. Can you please mark which tours you attended. We will give you credit for a certain number of games at each event. This will enable future Boards to recognise these milestones without relying on the member to come forward. Contact with members We try to keep up to date with members details so we can give you details of what is happening around the IFCR world. If your details change can you please send any changes to our Fellowship secretary who keeps our membership database up to date. As our membership secretary has the most up-to-date list of members; if you wish to contact all members it is always best to send a note to Michael so he makes sure all members get the details. In addition we are looking at ways to keep our web page up to date so if you have stories that we can put in our regular newsletter and the web page can you please send them through and we will publish them. Promotional Material As with Rotary, we need to continue to attract new members to our Fellowship. To assist members with this we are looking to get a promotional package of material that we can provide to members for presentation at your District or Club functions, This may include a collage of photos or a short video. For example a video was made for the international conference in Sydney in 2014. We are looking for any material that members may have that we can use to make up a package of items that can be used by members. If you have any items that you think can be used can you please let either or me know. Over 60 s tournament Finally, the following members are playing in Tasmania at the Over 60 s festival. Graeme Amoore, David Benn,, Lloyd Dungey, John Gray, David Horsley, Derrick Marsden, Max Morrell, Bruce Pooley, Robert Queale, Charles Townsing, Denis Wade, Ian Petherick We wish you all the best.

International Fellowship of Membership rules The Rotary Board, at its June meeting in Brazil, has expanded membership eligibility in Rotary Fellowships. The rules have been expanded to include family members of Rotarians, program participants and alumni. The section on Rotary Fellowship membership in the RI Code of policy is updated: 42.010.2. Organization and Membership A fellowship shall have a governing document (charter, constitution, bylaws or similar document) which must be consistent with RI policy. All governing documents, and amendments thereto, must be reviewed by the fellowships committee, if practicable, and approved by the general secretary. A fellowship shall be organised with at least three officers, one of whom shall be the chair (president or other administrative head) and serve as a non-voting member-at-large of the RI fellowships committee. The chair must be an active Rotarian. A fellowship's membership shall be open to all Rotarians, family members of Rotarians, program participants and alumni Typically, it means the membership of IFCR can be expanded to include participants of the following programs: Interact, Rotaract, Rotary Youth Exchange, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), Rotary Peace Fellowships, Global Grant Scholarships, Vocational training teams (members and leaders), District Grant scholarships, New Generations Service Exchange, Rotary Foundation awards to individuals in former TRF programs, such as: Ambassadorial Scholarships, Grants for University Teachers, Group Study Exchange, Rotary Volunteers The Board will review our governing document and make nay necessary amendments for presentation at the next general meeting. As we are a member of IFCR which has its own governing body we may need to wiat until those documents are amended, if necessary, to comply with the new rules in relation to all Rotary Fellowships.

12 P a g e International Fellowship of Expressions of interest in attending future festivals As you are aware there is a lot of planning required in organizing IFCR tours. We have a number of tours that members have suggested that the Board consider in the coming periods. Some international tours require planning several years out. In order to determine whether we have enough initial interest in these tours we ask for an indication from you whether you would be interested in attending. Your expression of interest does not compel you to attend but merely assists the organising committee to direct newsletters and emails to members to keep them informed.
