INTRODUCTION In this presentation we are going to talk about the Ancient Egypt. Egypt is in the middle of the dessert Sahara crossed by the Nile. The egyptians invented a lot of things including the pyramids and the mummification They were very good at so many things of economy and buildings.
THE ECONOMY Trading: Egyptians didn t have money, so they only traded through the Nile. Many people fished. But meat was more generally eaten. The collection: The products were controlled by the collectioner. The markets: They were generally food. There were also animals.
THE ECONOMY Crafts: Egyptians were very careful making objects. Jobs were transmitted from parents to their children. Iron: They started to use it at the end of the new empire era of the Egyptians. Bricks: Were made with mud and straw. Lathe: Egyptians used the lathe to make vessels. They made baskets.
WRITING Materials: They used ink and also brushes made of wood or bamboo. Hieroglyphs: At the beginning they were carved on stone and after drawn on the papyrus Papyrus: The stem bark of the papyrus is first removed and then cut into thin slices that they placed to soak to soften. When they were ready, were put in slides and were heated with another fabric and used to write on it.
PYRAMIDS They are one of the ancient wonders that were built in Giza around 4000 B.C. The first pyramid that was built staggered. Pharaohs tombs: At the beginning the pharaohs were buried and the upper part was used as a chapel. Mastabas: Were used to bury pharaohs. They looked like the pyramids but without the top. Pyramids: They were three, named: Cheops, Khafre and Mencaure. Hypogea: Were underground tombs.
TEMPLES In the Ancient Egypt the temples were the house of the gods, the pharaohs and the priests were the only people that could enter in the temples. Every year they held a party in honor of the god Amun. Offerings: Everyday the priests washed the god, dressed him up and adorned him with jewels. They also offered him a tray with food three times a day. Veneration: When they finished eating the faithfuls made their requests to the gods.
GODS The Ancient Egyptians had a god for every reason. This way they could explain life around them. Ra: It was the god of the sun. Osiris: It was the god of the kingdom of the dead. Anubis: He lead the souls to the kingdom of the dead. Isis: Wife of Osiris. Hap: It was the god of the Nile. Maat: Justice god.
MUMMIFICATION Egyptians believed in life after death so that s why they mummified people. The embalsamers: They had to embalm the body taking out the organs. The extraction: They introduced a long rod to remove the brain through the nose. The final job: Their body rested in a salt called Natron and then it was wrapped in linen bandages. The sarcophagus: The mommy was introduced in three coffins made of wood that fit in each other and they were inside a stone sarcophagus.
EGYPTIAN SYMBOLS We ve fond two of the most important symbols of the Egyptians: The Horus eye: It is an Ancient Egyptian symbol of protection, royal power and good health. The eye is personified in the goddess Wadiet. It is also known as The Eye of Ra The key of life: It represents the concept of eternal life, which is the general meaning of the symbol. The Egyptian gods are often portrayed carrying it by its loop, or bearing one in each hand, arms crossed over their chest.
TUTANKHAMUN Tutankhamun was an Egyptian pharaoh of the 18th dynasty he ruled from 1332 BC 1323 BC during the New Kingdom. In 1922 the discover by Howard Carter and George Herber, 5th Earl of Carnarvon of Tutankhamun's nearly intact tomb received worldwide press coverage. Exhibits of artifacts from his tomb have toured the world. In February 2010, the results of DNA tests confirmed that he was the son of Akhenaten and Akhenaten's sister and wife, whose name is unknown but whose remains are positively identified as "The Younger Lady
