President s Message Thank you Anne for informing us about Rotarians Against Malaria (RAM), a major RAWCS (Rotary Australia World Community Service) last week. Certainly there was plenty of detail to assist in our understanding of the situation and thank you for saving us from overload. The 3 hour seminar she went to sounded very taxing on the brain. Short and sharp was all we could digest properly. Lots of events happening - see the Bulletin list and also Maree will fill you in on the key ones to put into your diary. The first major event being next week. Please give us numbers by the end of the meeting this week. We need to give the caterers the optimum time possible to prepare. Today I also sent an email to Ulverstone West to confirm our invitation to them for the 22 nd May. Westbury and Latrobe have also been invited. Could turn out to be quite an evening if a good number from each Club can come. Now for this week - a bit self indulgent possibly, but, what power a President can have! A big '0' Birthday coming up and a good time to celebrate that and life in general. And what better way to do it than with Rotary friends and family. It can be a partners evening as well so please invite 'he or she who must be obeyed' if they would like another night out with Rotary. Otherwise I do hope we will see them all next week. Yours in Rotary Gayle Anzac Day Service PP Michael Horne with wreath; and Governor, Her Excellency Kate Warner giving address

Professional Development Exchange District 1461, Denmark HOSTING The Danish team will be in Tasmania from late May through to the end of June. We are seeking expressions of interest in Hosting for periods of three to four nights. It is envisaged that the team will fly into Launceston and spend some time in the North of the state before finishing in the south and flying out of Hobart. We can all recall some wonderful times with GSE teams in the past This is another opportunity to do so. APPLICATIONS A position on the team has opened up and clubs are invited to encourage suitable young professionals to apply (aged between 25 and 40). As you are aware the exchange has a vocational emphasis on agriculture. This is a wide ranging field with many possibilities. A group of four Tasmanians interested in agriculture and a Rotarian will visit South Jutland and Funen region of Denmark in September, for four weeks as part of the exchange Denmark has a rich history and is, for large parts, agricultural country Depending on the number of applications received there will be a short list developed and they will be interviewed. Applications will close on Friday the 11 th of May with interviews planned for the 20 th May. Applications and any queries please contact PDG Gerard Blizzard gerardblizzard@bigpond.com 0417 532 392 Or contact Dennis Dwyer 0434 637 872
