A GREEN TREASURE Southern Forest 3 days 2 nights There is a place in the south so similar to the north that you may feel an impulse to check on your map whether you really are in the sunny Andalusia or not. During the last glaciation, ice coming from the poles pushed the north European forests southwards. Subsequently, when the climate became milder, most of the forests retreated back to their original places. Could it be possible for a northem forest to find its new home in the south so perfect to stay there forever? In the green forest of Las Acebeas, among tall holly and hazel trees, you will discover that such a miracle has happened. Dive into the culture agriculture and forestry discovering Siles and the old mountain trades on the Sequero Visitor Center. PROGRAM 3 days 2 nights Day 1. Arrival at accommodation and, depending on the available time for the group, leisure or optional activity. Dinner at the accommodation. Day 2. We will do a 4x4 route during half a day by The Acebeas and Navalperal. Lunch on your own and free time to rest or to do an optional activity (see table). Day 3. Check out of the hotel. During the morning a visit to Génave, its Ecological Oil Museum and walk through the village of Siles. Lunch on your own during the route and end of services. * If you are traveling in the months of November or December, the previous route may be replaced by a workshop of olive picking and seasoning (with a supplement of 9.50 9 / pax. DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES (*) ACTIVITY UNDER PROGRAM Half a day 4x4 route by Acebeas and Navalperal It goes through the town of Segura de la Sierra to the Sierra del Agua, through the restricted areas of the Natual Park. The first stretch runs through the region of Las Acebeas, spectacular forest of holly and large hazel trees, mixed with corsican pines. 1 km. after, we find the Guard House of The Acebeas, at the base of Navalperal peak and gradually we will discover how timberline begins to disappear and allows us to enjoy the spectacular views. We will leave the vehicles to peek into a window to the landscape, where, on a clear day, we can see up to the wide plains of La Mancha. We will walk 1km., and, back to 4x4, we will proceed to the area of Cerro Espino, preserved area where we can contemplate the Pyrenean oak, only present in this area of the park, as well as a magnificent forest of maples. Ascending to El Espino, we enter on the 2nd restricted stretch, through a real natural balcony that rises to 1600 m above sea level, reaching El Collado de Gontar to enter in its spectacular crack and return to where we started watching the beautiful forest of maples. Approximate duration: 4 to 5 h. Distance: 90 km Total distance approx. Forest track tour 60 km ENTERPRISE: Excursiones Turisnat (*) ACTIVITY UNDER PROGRAM Visit to Génave, the organic oil museum and a walk through Siles. We will begin a day about olive oil among olive trees, where we can see the world's largest olive tree. Then we will arrive at the village of Génave, where we will visit the museum of organic olive oil. Siles will be our next stop, where we will walk around El Parque de la Glorieta, Ermita de San Roque, Bullring, Old Town (Walls, Gates, Church, Rodrigo Manrique's house...) ending at the interpretation center of El Sequero, where we will find a forest jobs thematic space and a mycology information point. Approximate duration: 4 to 5 h. ENTERPRISE: Olivair Route through Bucentaina and Piedra del Agujero In the district of Siles (10km round trip and 400 m slope), it is not too difficult. It is one of the best trails with the best views in the area. Difficulty: Low ENTERPRISE: Olivair
DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES Olive picking and seasoning workshop. This activity may be done by replacing the route of the third day, and if it is in the months of November and December. It consists on a tour through the olive grove where each of the participants will collect 5 kg approx. of olives per person, which they can take home. We will also collect herbs that will serve us for the seasoning. After lunch there will be a brief explanation which will help to prepare the olives. Duration: 4 h. Distance: 20 km approx. ENTERPRISE: Hotel Zahara de los Olivos Trail by Cambron. We will arrive by car to the town of Siles and, from there, we will continue nearly 30 minutes by car, until you reach a fountain where the trail will begin. An ascent of arpox. 5 km. The path climbs gently through a narrow forest, amid black pines with abundant oaks. Little by little it gets clearer and allow us to enjoy spectacular views of the Natural Park and the neighboring provinces of Albacete and Ciudad Real. At the top, the limestone soil eroded by ice allows us to discover strange and unexpected shapes. Distance: 10km. Difficulty: Medium. Approximate duration: 3h ENTERPRISE: Olivair- El Contadero Aventura 15 minutes paratriking flight. It is a very interesting and new concept, which recently experienced a boom, with Spain as the champion of the world in this discipline. It is a tricycle, with elements of ultralighting aircraft industry (motor, wheels, etc.) Able to develop the necessary push to move 400 kg on air. The passenger is seated in the front seat, the pilot gives an instruction through the intercom, and after the inflation of the wing and a surprising acceleration, it makes us hang sweetly in heaven. Especially recommended for people with mobility problems or physical disabilities. Activity conducted by qualified pilots and where safety is the first element that is taken into account for the implementation of activities. Positive emotions are guaranteed. The tours are tailored to the group and meteorology. ENTERPRISE: Olivair Introduction to rock climbing + ½ day hike by Torres de Albanchez. We will arrive by car to the town of Torres de Albanchez and leave it parked in the sports area there, at 1km of the village. There is a short walk uphill of about an hour long to get to the trail. Once we reach to the area for making the climb, the basic rules about the material and the techniques used to climb will be explained and the activity will start.
