MFL Trip to Normandy Monday 9 th Friday 13 th July 2018 (Activities Week)
Mr Bird- Head of Languages at Ealing Fields from September 2018 Ms Stewart (English Department) will accompany the students on the residential visit.
When/How do we go? Meet at the front of William Perkin High school Monday 9th July @ 4.40am (Oldfield Lane North, Greenford Middlesex,UB6 8PR) Leave William Perkin High School Monday 9th July @ 5am Return to William Perkin High School Friday 13th July @ 23.45pm (Parents must arrange for students to be picked up on time) Travelling by coach Ferry crossing with Brittany ferries
Where are we staying? Centre Patrick Varangot. 37 avenue du Révérend Père Umbricht 35400 Saint-Malo (Full board breakfast, lunch, dinner) The accommodation is in the town of St Malo and close to all the attractions we will be visiting. We will be staying in rooms of between 2 and 6 people. We will have breakfast in the hotel, a packed lunch while we are out sightseeing, and our dinner at a nearby restaurant. Ealing Fields students will share a room together.
Itinerary: Monday 05:00 Depart from William Perkin High School 08:15 Depart Portsmouth 15:00 Arrive Caen 17:30 Arrive accommodation, unpack, evening meal, meet with French staff who will explain the week NOTE: You must have a packed lunch with enough food for breakfast and lunch because these are not provided on the first day.

Itinerary: Friday Daytime : Visit to Bayeux Tapestry 16:30 Departure Caen 21:15 Arrive Portsmouth 23:45 Arrive at William Perkin School NOTE: A packed lunch is provided for the return trip but not dinner you need to bring some pounds to buy lunch on the ferry home (and not spend it on the way there).
What do you need to bring? A soft bag not hard suitcase Passport and EHIC card Medication e.g. inhaler, epi-pen, allergy medication (school leader needs one, students need another) Sensible and appropriate clothing and footwear (comfortable for walking) Toiletries including a towel Sensible daybag to carry packed lunch, booklet, etc. during the day Waterproof/warm coat Suncream, sunhat An adaptor Pencil case (to fill in your booklet) French dictionary Rough book Watch Phones are allowed but must be switched off except in an emergency or to call home in the evening these are brought at your own risk, the school is not responsible Money ( ) to buy dinner on the return trip Packed lunch for the first day Optional: camera Optional: spending money maximum 50 You must look after your belongings! The school will not be responsible if you lose them.

Health & Safety You must always be in groups of 3 when you have free time. You will be given a contact card (in French and English) with an explanation of who you are and the emergency school mobile number on it Mrs Lewis will have this on at all times. Students must carry any emergency medication with you. Parents/Guardians must ensure that school has spare medication (inhalers, epi-pens) and that these are in date and working. Mrs Lewis and Ms Neilson are qualified First Aiders they will have a First Aid kit and spare inhalers and epi-pens, but students must also have their own with them at all times. We will not be able to take your child on the trip if they do not have their medication.
Behaviour Listen to instructions carefully and always do as staff are asking. Be polite and sensible. You must be at meeting points punctually in order to register. You must be in bed and quiet by the time specified by staff we all need a good rest before each day of activities! Try to be adventurous with food which is offered to you! Look after your belongings. School will not be responsible if you lose anything. Should there be any serious behavioural issues, your child will be sent back to England at your own expense.
