Family CAMP BLACKBERRY CAMP BLACKBERRY Camp Blackberry is a place where kids can be kids, allowing parents time for each other. We offer time for creativity, learning and exploration. From catching crawdads in the creek to cooking up a culinary creation, there are so many options at Blackberry Farm. Scavenger hunts, putting on a play, creating a oneof-a-kind souvenir, enjoying dinner and an outdoor movie, canoeing, gathering eggs from the chicken house or picking vegetables each of these activities brings an authentic adventure. PROGRAM AGE GROUPS Camp Blackberry Camp Blackberry is a program for children ages 4 and older that encourages Appreciation through Exploration. Blackberry Youth Discovery Youth Discovery is a supplemental opportunity for youth ages 10 and older to experience more in depth learning in areas such as painting, ceramics, farmstead and adventure activities. Outside of family time Camp Blackberry and Blackberry Youth Discovery is available as a supplemental option. These sessions can be customized based on the interests of the children in attendance. Private Sessions are 3 hours in duration and cost $150 per child. Special pricing is available for families with multiple children. Please contact the concierge to begin planning. Family BLACKBERRY YOUTH DISCOVERY BLACKBERRY YOUTH DISCOVERY Blackberry Youth Discovery is a supplemental opportunity for youth ages 10 and older to experience more in depth learning on a specific topic while in the company of other youth within their age group. Blackberry Youth Discovery is offered at special times throughout the year. Please contact the Concierge to inquire if Blackberry Youth Discovery classes are being offered during your stay. Family BLACKBERRY YOUTH DISCOVERY BLACKBERRY YOUTH DISCOVERY CLASSES: Horse Hints Venture with us to the Blackberry Farm stables where you will learn grooming and handling techniques for your favorite equine friends. Wildlife Hike Pull on your boots and head out on the trail. Look for signs that animals have also been there. Learn to identify game trails, animal prints and scat. Geocaching Use your map, compass and GPS to find the hidden location of our on property caches. Find all the pieces of the puzzle and solve the hidden message. Compass Course Learn basic navigation skills then use them to find select way-points throughout our trails. Be sure to keep an eye out for decoys! Fly Tying Join us at the Grey Drake to learn what types of insects are the favorites of trout. Then tie a few of those basic ties such as the woolly bugger and the elk hair caddis. Stream Ecology The streams at Blackberry Farm are teeming with life. Journey with us to Hesse Creek and help us to locate and identify the aquatic life that make up this diverse ecosystem! Art Classes Explore your inner artist and leave with a new set of skills and a one of a kind piece of artwork. Gardening Explore the concepts of our farm to table philosophy. Learn planting, harvesting and seed saving techniques that you can apply to you own kitchen garden. Archery An introduction to the history and basics of this ancient art. Learn proper safety skills then draw back your arrow and aim for the target. Try your hand at several different styles of bow. Farm Animal Care Spend some time discovering our farmstead. Learn about all the products our animals produce and what it takes to care for them. Canoeing Head down to Old Walland Pond to get your feet wet and learn the basics of canoeing. Family ADVENTURE SERIES MOUNTAIN DISCOVERY STREAM EXPLORATION Get connected to the life of an aquatic ecosystem of a mountain freestone stream. Kids of all ages will love splashing in Hesse Creek, discovering crawdads, salamanders and other treasures buried beneath the waters. WILDLIFE OF THE SMOKIES From salamanders and turtles to deer and black bear, the land surrounding Blackberry Farm is full of wildlife and all its secrets. Join us on a trek through one of the most biologically diverse areas in the world s temperate zone. ORIENTEERING A sport emphasizing skill and accuracy in map reading, an orienteering session can also be a fast paced competition that s fun and enlightening. Add compass travel and you have achieved a new level of outdoor savvy. GEOCACHING Arm yourself with a GPS unit and a code name and set out on a hunt for hidden treasure! Explore Blackberry Farm in this sport of high-tech hide-and-seek using a Global Positioning System to guide your travel. Family ADVENTURE SERIES ADVENTURE QUESTS ADVENTURE ARCHERY Discover the thrill of this sport of primitive ballistics. Choose from recurve or compound bows, learn proper and safe techniques, and connect with core skills of focus and intuition. CANOEING OR KAYAKING Explore the flat water of the Little River in the boat of your choice, learning the basics of balance, navigation, proper techniques and safety. Allow three hours (half day). COMPASS COURSE A great follow-up to the Orienteering activity, the Compass Course adds a new level of navigation skills. Your path takes you deeper into the woods as you rely on trustworthy tools and your guide to teach you confidence in traversing the outdoors. A WORKING FARM Connect with the Farmstead to meet the sheep, chickens, pigs, and other barnyard personalities. Gather eggs in season and discover other wonders of life inside the Dairy Barn. Learn how these animals support Blackberry Farm s production of artisanal cheeses and meats, as well as daily menu offerings in our kitchens. Activities Offerings FAMILY SITTING SERVICES Sitting services are available with an hourly charge of $25 per sitter. Advanced notice is required. POLICIES Children of any age are welcome throughout the year. Children under 4 years of age may stay in their parents room free of charge. Charges for children 4 years of age and older staying in their parents room will be $250 per child, per night, plus tax and service charge. This standard room charge covers meals in our restaurants during normal dining hours, pantry snacks and sodas. DINING All meals are special events at Blackberry Farm, and our Culinary Team takes great pride in using only the finest ingredients to create memorable cuisine. Breakfast, brunch, and lunch are enjoyed in the Main House. Lunch at Blackberry Farm is a casual affair and is available from 12:00pm-2:30pm daily. Dinner is enjoyed by reservation in The Barn or The Dogwood. Blackberry Farm s fine dining restaurant, The Barn, is available for diners 12 years and older. Families with children of all ages are welcome to dine at The Dogwood during normal dinner hours with the relaxed atmosphere. Campers can also enjoy our Sundown Session with chef prepared meals and activities.
