THE EXPERIENCE Anavilhanas Lodge is a small and exclusive hotel situated in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, in Brazil. Located in front of Anavilhanas, the world s largest fresh water archipelago, the Lodge is touched by the black waters of the Rio Negro ("Black River") and is blessed with the sounds, smells and mysteries of the Amazon jungle. Free of mosquitoes and nested within a vast stretch of untouched rainforest, you will experience the perfect balance between nature and comfort, adventure and peacefulness. The architecture is in line with the regional tradition: lots of straw and suspended wooden structures, holding cozy rooms where our guests will find peace and quiet for an invigorating night s sleep. Throughout the hotel, the rustic atmosphere is derived from modern forms and contours which enhance the grace of natural materials and their functions in the structure. The restaurant is hidden amidst the trees, but through them it is possible to behold the dark water river, so dark that it has been called Rio Negro. On the menu, you will find a blend of classic local dishes and international cuisine, prepared and served with diligence for an impeccable presentation. The deck and pool overlook the river and are among the trees that provide shade, peacefulness and a perfect spot for contemplation. Together with the reception and the bar, you will find a rich library, comfortable chairs and gaming tables which invite the guests to relax and spend their time in good company. There is also a small floating deck which allows our guests to take a dive into the river, or to simply contemplate the quietness of the dark waters. BEST TIME TO VISIT The weather in the Amazon is quite hot and humid, with constant rain. The region can be visited throughout the year and has two distinct seasons. The dry season occurs usually from September to December. From January to June, the rainy season, the rivers reach their highest level; boat access to various regions becomes easier, allowing navigation at the level of the canopies of several submerged trees. GETTING THERE There are daily flights to Manaus (MAO) from any major city in Brazil, and four direct weekly flights from Miami. The trip from Manaus s airport to Anavilhanas Lodge is a 186 km drive along an asphalt road, which takes approximately 2h40. ACCOMODATION The Lodge has 22 suites (16 Cottages, 4 Bungalows and 2 Panoramics), all of them equipped with split air conditioning, single or double beds, hot and cold water, a mini-bar and an inviting balcony. In the luxury category the hotel offers four bungalows which are completely integrated with the forest. Resting on a hill ten meters above the others, overlooking the Rio Negro and the islands of the National Park, they are fitted with split AC, king size beds, 32" LCD TVs, mini-bars and hairdryers. SUGGESTED ITINERARY Every day, guided tours are offered by native and bilingual guides, with options in English and Spanish. Each program is designed to contain the essence of the Amazon, taking into consideration the number of days that each guest will be at the Lodge. The order of the tours above is merely a suggestion; the hotel's reception will define the sequence of activities. Guests leaving the hotel for the airport to take afternoon flights should leave the hotel on the morning transfer. Guests with pick-ups at the airport between 11 am and 2 pm will not be able to participate in the tour on the afternoon of the first day. Guests with return flights scheduled from 1pm to 7pm will not be able to participate in the tour on the morning of the last day. National holidays: Paixão de Cristo, Tiradentes, Trabalho, Corpus Christi, Independência, Finados, New Year (minimum of 3 nights) and Carnaval (minimum of 4 nights). The stay of children under five years of age is free, as long as they are lodged in their parents' room. There can only be one child per room. PAYMENT METHODS AND CANCELATION CREDIT CARD OR WIRE TRANSFER In order to secure a reservation, passengers must pay 30% of the total price of the trip via deposit up to 90 days prior to the departure date. Reservations made under 90 days before the departure date will result in the payment of the full cost of the trip upon purchase. The following credit cards are accepted: Visa and MasterCard. Note that: Payments with credit cards are processed in Brazilian Reais. Payments via wire transfer are converted from Brazilian Reais to US Dollars at the exchange rate of the day of the transaction. CANCELATION POLICY 10% fine on the amount paid if the cancellation occurs at least 30 days before the beginning of the trip. 20% fine on the amount paid if the cancellation occurs during the following period: 30 to 21 days before the beginning of the trip. If the cancellation occurs less 20 or less days before the beginning of the trip, there may be a fine greater than 20%, calculated upon proof of Auroraeco incurred expenses. There will not be a refund or discount due to overnight reductions, once the check-in is made. Upon confirmation of the trip, a Medical Form and a Responsibility Term will be sent to all travelers, and should be filled in, signed and sent back to Auroraeco at least 30 days prior to the start of the trip.
