HOME AWAY FROM HOME GETTING READY FOR HOSTEL Seth M. R. Jaipuria Schools Banaras prides of its quality of boarding provision both for boys and girls (Class V onwards). The hostel is under the direct supervision of Principal, Vice Principal and Administration Manager. One hostel warden for boys, one lady warden for girls and an experienced academic hostel supervisor work under the above school heads and officials. The hostel warden counsel the children individually and encourage them to maintain general discipline and tidiness within the hostel. The Academic Hostel Supervisor keeps individual progress records to monitor their academic progress. Parents are to keep in touch with the Academic Hostel Supervisor to know their wards academic performance. The well experienced matrons are readily available within the hostel to attend all the immediate needs of boarders as well as to supervise the domestic arrangements such as laundry, bathing, repairing, hair dressing, bed maintaining, etc. On weekdays, study and coaching classes are held after school hours under the able guidance of subject wise experienced and devoted teachers. These classes though conducted in groups, they cater to the individual needs of students too. During the weekend, there are programs of entertainment that include Video Films, Talent Contests, Quiz, Birthday Parties, Outings, etc. Apart from the weekend programs, the boarders enjoy the facilities of games and sports throughout the week under the super vision of trained games teachers. A full time trained and experienced health assistant looks after the health of boarders and a qualified medical practitioner visits frequently for general health check-up. Once a child is admitted as a boarder, he/she will not be permitted to be a Day Scholar under any circumstances during the running academic year. Leaving the hostel in the mid-session may be considered only on medical ground (Exceptions to this rule only under special circumstances, subject to approval by school Principal). Students are not permitted to receive food parcels. Parents are suggested not to send these to avoid disappointment. Parents are requested not to provide money directly to the children. Pocket money may be sent through the school office with the permission of hostel wardens. Parents are suggested to strictly follow directions and schedule mentioned in the Year Planner of the school. The schedule in the Year Planner is subject to change without prior information. Parents must visit the Principal on his/her official visiting days. Parents may visit the Vice Principal in absence of the Principal. Parents can visit their wards only on Sundays between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM and on the days of Report Card Distribution. They have to take permission from the Hostel Warden to visit their ward on other days. It is compulsory for all parents to sign the visitors The hostel provides vegetarian diet cooked in hygienic kitchen. The menu, which is changed regularly, seeks to provide for taste whilst maintaining a correct nutritional balance. Clothes, footwear and other hostel requirements are to be sent in good condition. Children s Suitcase and other belongings should be register on arrival for meeting their wards. Parents are requested to follow the instructions given in the school prospectus regarding School Uniforms and other rules. marked with the Name & Roll number. A full list of all articles sent with every child should be pasted inside the box.

The students are not allowed to move out of the campus, on their own. Health hazard points in the campus have already been taken care of. The campus is covered with CCTV and adequately lit during night time. Pest control is done regularly to kill uncalled insects and mosquitoes. The boundary wall of the campus is more than ten feet high and further barbed fencing is raised to prevent unauthorized entry from outside. There is only one entry to the main campus, which is guarded round the clock. They keep watch on all those who enter the campus and ensure safety and security of those who are staying inside the campus. State-of-the-art center is equipped with ultra-modern gym, which is suitable for everyone from the first time gym to the very experienced. MEALS Boarders will enjoy three balanced meals daily, along with snacks break and evening milk. INFIRMARY State of the art infirmary is available with trained nursing staff. Doctor on call is available. WASHING AND IRONING Learners clothes must be clearly marked and will be washed at the school laundry. Please supply your child with a labeled laundry bag. It is also important that all clothes should be clearly labeled. RECREATION ACTIVITIES A recreation room with a television set and video machine where learners may watch selected programs. Boarders may also use the games room to play, listen to music, etc. We also strive to expose our learners to physical activities. Sufficient water is available round the clock to all the inmates of the campus. All the hostels, school building, kitchen and dining hall are further provided with Reverse Osmosis system to make available safe drinking water to the inmates of the campus. MEDICAL ATTENTION For ordinary ailments parents are not informed. If a student is admitted to a hospital a communication is sent to the guardians/parents. MOBILE PHONE USAGE Usage of mobile phone inside the hostel is strictly prohibited.

DO'S AND DON'Ts Campus life is a home away from home for students! The Jaipuria campus at Babatpur, Varanasi has hostel facilities. There are separate accommodation for boys and girls. The following hostel rules will be binding on the hostel residents from the date and time of allotments of the hostel accommodation.the hostel rules have been framed to minimize inconvenience to the hostler and maintain law and order in the hostel as well as the neighborhood. Violation of any rule will render the student liable to be punished/ expelled from the hostel / institute. 1. Hostel shall be managed by a Hostel Affairs Committee which will include the faculty coordinators, Wardens and the administration officials. The details of the committee members will be provided on the date of admission at hostel. 2. The hostel room is made available on shared occupancy basis, on priority to outstation students on first come first serve basis. (subject to availability) 3. The hostel has AC and Non AC rooms. These are allotted to interested students on written request and 'Required' payment of the hostel fee, on a first come first serve basis. 4. School reserves the rights to refuse accommodation without assigning any reason or on the basis of one's past record. 5. Allocation of rooms and room partners is done on a basis as informed and ONLY after deposit of the hostel fee. This is to be accepted by all the students and no interchange shall be permitted. Any self-arrangement of changing rooms without the permission of authorities shall be treated as offence and dealt accordingly. 6. Nonpayment of Hostel fee on time (not more than three days after the due date as notified time to time) will debar a student from continuing in the hostel, s/he may or may not be permitted to continue even after the settlement of dues. 7. Each student shall be responsible for upkeep and security of furniture/ fixtures of the room. 8. S/he shall handover the room with its fittings and fixtures at the time of vacation of the room. S/he is liable to be charged for damages caused by him/her to the Hostel Property. 9. Rooms have been freshly painted and all residents shall ensure that the room will be returned in same condition, in case of writing/drawing/stickers pasting on the wall/defacing in any kind on the wall, all residents shall be held responsible and will pay equal amount of expense to repair that. No parties/birthday celebration is allowed in the room or verandah without approval of warden. 10. Possession or consumption of tobacco, cigarettes, liquor, drugs and intoxicants in any form, non-veg food in the hostel is strictly prohibited. Violation of these rules will render the student liable to be expelled from the hostel. S/he may even be rusticated from the school. 11. Possession or use of fire arms, khukhri, knife having blade length in excess of six inches, explosives of any description, such as items (acid, poison, etc.) which can cause severe harm to a person, etc. is unlawful and prohibited. Violation of this rule will render the student liable to be expelled from the hostel. S/he may even be rusticated from the school. 12. Betting, Gambling, Maintaining contacts with criminals, unlawful organizations, outsiders are strictly prohibited. Students indulging in such acts will be severely dealt with including expulsion from the hostel/school. 13. Students are not expected to leave the hostel without written permission of the Principal. Leave applications must be approved by the Principal. Also no leave would be granted without a written request from the parent/guardian. Any leave sanctioned without a written request from the parent/guardian must be countersigned by the parent/guardian and submitted to the office (warden) on his/her return from leave of absence. Such leaves will be counted as per the academic leave rules only. 14. Although the visitors are allowed to the hostel on Sunday to meet the students, yet they are not allowed to stay overnight in the hostel. 15. Visitors to the girls hostel shall remain limited to her parents and local guardian whose names have been given by the parents at the time of admission. 16. No male visitors including the father/brother, etc. are allowed inside the room of the girls hostel. Similarly, no female visitors including the mother/sister, etc. are allowed inside the room of boys hostel. 17. Male student are not allowed to visit the girls hostel any time. Similarly, female students are not allowed to visit the boys hostel any time. 18. A Complaint/Feedback register shall be maintained in each hostel and the Hostel Mess. The warden shall examine the register weekly, take remedial/corrective actions and bring the problems to the notice of the Administrative officer who in turn if required shall discuss the issue in the Hostel Committee. 19. All residents of the hostel are requested to show their ID at the time of entry in the hostel. 20. Hostel is allotted for the academic year (as notified in academic calendar or through subsequent notice by the Administration) and the payment is charged on annual basis for the academic year. 21. Hostel residents are required to vacant the Hostel Room along with their belongings within 3 days of the closure of the academic year. 22. All requests of hostel seat for continuing after year end from students must be received in writing along with hostel fee by 31st January of every year. Previous year defaulters may not be allowed to stay in the hostel in next year. 23. Every hosteller is required to attend school regularly on time without any fail. No hosteller will stay back in hostel during class hours, unless specifically permitted by any member of the Hostel Committee/prescribed by the Doctor. 24. GenSet shall not be operating during normal class hours i.e. except for Sunday/ Holidays. The Air conditioner may not run on Genset. 25. Students found in hostel without any approval will be subjected to face the Student Welfare Discipline Committee. 26. Use or Possession of electric heaters or other electric appliances including iron in the hostel rooms is not permitted. A fine of `1000 shall be levied, the appliance will be confiscated and disciplinary action will be taken for violation of this rule, including cancellation of hostel allotment. 27. Student shall endeavor to reduce electricity bill to the barest minimum. They shall switch off the lights when leaving the room. Occupants are liable to be fined `100/- or more when found defaulting on this account. 28. Students will be responsible for the safety of their valuable asset, those involved in theft case will be expelled from hostel immediately. 29. Spots of throwing liquids and tobacco/gutka spits if found on any gallery walls/corners near to particular room will be subjected to fine the students staying in those rooms. 30. Food will be served as per the timing of mess. Students are expected to give their suggestions/ observation/ feedback regarding quality of food, desire of change/ suggestion for improvement in mess services in the feedback register kept in the mess. No wastage is accepted. 31. All residents will mark his/her attendance for the day in register kept for this purpose. Onus /responsibility of giving attendance at night will always be that of resident. 32. Modesty and decency in wearing of cloths/uniform is expected from all residents. 33. Any valuable items such as Jewellery, Mobile phones & gadgets are strictly prohibited inside hostel premises 34. Ragging is prohibited inside & outside the hostel premises. All students & Parents need to sign Anti-ragging Declaration. If found guilty, legal action will be taken.
