All 10 th World Potato Congress XXVIII Latin American Potato Association Congress academic activities will be held at the Convention Center, located in Plaza Cusipata, in the historic center of Cusco, Peru. The language of the Congress is English, but there will be simultaneous translation to Spanish. This event has 4 components: Science & Industry program, Field Day, Commercial Exhibition and Social events. We have a Partners program, specially prepared for persons accompanying WPC participants. Congress format.- The Congress is a mixture of plenary and themed concurrent sessions, included technical sessions and workshops. Concurrent sessions will have different presentations from different speakers all relating a main theme of the Congress: Biodiversity, Food Security and Business. You choose which of the concurrent sessions you would like to attend. There are four registration packages: Full Delegate, WPC Director, ALAP Member and Students. If you wish to register as part of a delegation of a company, institution, university or a country delegation, you can do it through the Full Delegate Registration Package, with a discount of 9%. Potato Park bit.ly/potatoparkeng The Potato Park is an indigenous Biocultural Heritage Area dedicated to protecting and improving food systems and native biodiversity on the Andean region. It is a center of diversity of the potato preserved for centuries by its inhabitants. The native potato, with its thousands of varieties and associated knowledge and ancestral cultivation techniques and management of agricultural landscape, are a worldwide attraction and this park is a way to protect them. 1
INIA Agricultural Experimental Station (EEAA) Andenes bit.ly/eandenesinia It is a research center in the Peruvian Andes working with potato, mainly with native varieties. Here a wide genetic diversity may be observed. There can also be seen the Inca technology based on a culture system platform that is part of ancestral management for conservations of native potatoes. 3. The first, the MAP, that offers 403 pieces dated from 1250 A.C. to 1532 D.C. and where selected from the universe of 45000 objects belonging to the Archaeological Museum Larco Herrera from Lima. The museum and its illumination as spectacular as they enhance the beauty pf painting, sculpture and ceramics of prehistorical Peru in the 11 rooms that the museum has. We continue the day with a visit to the Choco Museum, where we will learn about the origin of Peruvian chocolate, its production process and its transformation for cooking and eating samples of this magnificent product. To close the day, we will visit the Pisco Museum where a journey to the history of Peruvian Pisco awaits, product of grape from Ica state. During our time, there we will learn how to prepare Pisco Sour and Chilcano and we will experience a tasting of the different types of Pisco. Lunch will be at MAP Café. Full day tour on Baroque Route of Andes - 29 th May This tour combines natural scenery and the inca architecture of Tipón, the Wari pre-inca architecture in Pikillacta, the beautiful chaple of Andahuaylillas known as the Sixtine Chapel of America and tasting the wonders of the gastronomy of Saylla, Huasao Pick up at hotel around 09:15 hours for a guided visit of what is known as the southern valley of Cusco. We will stop at: Tipon: An inmense agricultural space with 12 terraces that are still used today. Its walls were built from finely carved stones and rocks. What is most impressive of the site is the irrigation system that still serves the community. Pikillaqta: A great urban site developed in the times of the Wari empire with more than a thousand constructions and even buildings with 4 stories high. Andahuaylillas: Typical Andean village from the times of the Spanish conquest. Its catholic temple outstands with its gorgeous decoration and wall painting from the XVII and XVIII centuries. Upon return we will stop at Saylla, typical Cusquenian town where we can taste their delicious pork crackling Duration of tour: 6 to 7 hours What is included?
