Health Service: Should your child require medical attention, the camp health supervisor will assess appropriate measures to take. UW-Whitewater camps have the full cooperation of Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital and emergency room personnel. Dining/Dietary Service: During the camp, your child will receive three well-balanced meals each day. Your child will be issued a meal band, which must be taken to every meal. Should the band be lost or destroyed, a new band will need to be purchased for $2.00. Any special dietary needs and questions can be accommodated/answered there by our full-time dietician. All dietary questions or concerns should be directed to Jeff Willis (willisj@uww.edu/262-443-4324). Money: Campers are not required to bring any money to camp, but it is up to their discretion. The University Bookstore has mementos and souvenirs that campers can purchase during store hours. Many campers will spend money on ice cream or pizza at night, too
Apparel: Campers will receive a camp Custom Warhawk Leotard during their time at camp. We will not be able to make adjustments to the size that you ordered! Warhawk Gymnastics Apparel will be for purchase at the Check-In, during the entire week of camp and at the end of camp during the show. Please see the camp website for a sample of these items. Camp Show: On Thursday, the last day, parents are invited to come at 2:00 p.m. to watch the gymnastics show at the Williams Center. Please meet outside of Gym 3 (2 nd floor), doors will open at 1:45pm. Activities will be completed at 3:30 p.m. At the conclusion of the show, parents will then be able to pick up all of their camper s items from the dorms. Parents will not be allowed in the dorms prior to or during the show! Camper Authorization Letter: If for any reason someone other than the camper s parent or guardian will be picking up or dropping off your camper at some point during the week, you will need to make sure that this letter is on file with the Camp Office prior to the start of camp. All other authorized drivers will be asked to show ID when picking up the camper. This also applies to all commuters. Housing: The campers will be housed in FISCHER Hall, where our staff will also be living during the week. Sunday Schedule 5:30 6:30pm Check In 7:00pm 7:45pm All campers and parents will be required to attend a camp meeting in Hyland Hall, Timmerman Auditorium. At this time, we will discuss camp rules and introduce you to some of the staff. After the meeting, campers will depart from the meeting with the UW-Whitewater staff and proceed to their evening session at the gym. Please make sure all campers have their gymnastics gear (leotard, grips, shorts, gym bag, etc.) when they come to the mandatory camp meeting. Please make sure to eat dinner prior to this meeting. At this evening session, campers will report to the Williams Center Gym 3 (2 nd floor) at 7:30 p.m. for stretching exercises, skill evaluation, and an introduction to the week s activities. Evening activities end at 9:00 p.m. and commuters may be picked up at this time from Gym 3. Daily Schedule Overnight Resident Camper (Monday Wednesday) 7:30am Wake up! Door Decoration Competition Brief intro: This year we are increasing our Warhawk Spirit by having a door decoration contest! Campers will have the opportunity to decorate their doors throughout the beginning of the week. Coaches will pick their top three favorite doors Wednesday morning and then officially vote on the winner on Wednesday night. The winner will be announced Thursday and will be given a prize! Please note that supplies will not be provided and must be brought from home. No damage can be done to the doors. (Examples: chipping, peeling paint, etc.). No carving or putting any permanent holes in the door (Examples: No nails or tacks, etc.). No paint, markers, glue, duct tape, or any other form of permanent material may be used directly on the doors. However, you may use these materials on posters/papers and then tape it to the door. You may use masking tape, painter s tape, or the 3M adhesives on the door to attach photos, streamers, poster, etc., provided that all residues are removed from the door. You may ONLY decorate on your door or doorframe. You may not decorate the wall. You may only cover half of the door for fire safety purposes. No decorations can be protruding from the door so much that it causes a safety hazard No using perishable food items that will attract pests. Judging will be based on creativity, Warhawk spirit, and overall look. You may not touch other people s door decoration once on the door. You will need to remove all decorations prior to leaving camp on Thursday afternoon! Note: any permanent damage to the door may result in additional room damage fees to your camp bill! Talent Show/Skit Night Takes place on Wednesday night You can pick to participate in skit night or watch the movie Need to sign up by Monday before dinner with your camp coaches Can participate individually or in a group Need to come prepared with costumes/props/music Will get 2 minutes max for talent act/skit NO gymnastics will be permitted in talent act/skit Popsicles provided to participants of talent show/skit
Rules and Regulations 1. Campers and staff will rise at 7:15 a.m. and have breakfast between 7:45 and 8:30. Warm-ups begin at 9:00. If you need to be taped, a trainer will be available at 8:45 a.m. 2. Any campers who are ill or injured should report to the trainer in Williams Center Training Room before 9:00 a.m. 3. Meals are at 7:45 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 5:45 p.m. daily. Campers are allowed and encouraged to bring snacks, drinks, and a water bottle with them. 4. Family and friends are not allowed in the dorms or in the gym after check in. Please contact Camp Director, Jen Regan if you have any questions. 5. On Thursday afternoon, from 2:00-3:30, parents may come to watch the camp session in Williams Center (2 nd floor). Campers will need to wear their camp shirt, a pair of black shorts and their Warhawk leotard for the show. 6. Please try to get yourself in condition before arriving at camp. This will help prevent muscle soreness and injuries and give you the ability to work out longer and learn more! Camper Expectations 1. Be on time and ready to try for all sessions. Attendance is mandatory!! 2. Listen to instructions and feedback from all coaches. 3. Listen closely, work hard, and ask questions during all practice sessions. 4. Always check with your coach before leaving the gym. 5. Learn the names of everyone in your group and promote teamwork within your group. Encourage one another. 6. No sitting! If you are not sure what you are supposed to be working on, ask your coach! 7. Obey all residence hall rules. We expect campers to behave appropriately and abide by Residence Hall rules.
