What is AHG Camp GTR Greater Than Rubies? AHG Camp GTR is an American Heritage Girl Regional Summer Camp designed to develop virtuous women of integrity. It is the camp committee's desire to develop virtuous women through spiritual growth, friendship building, and earning badges all while exploring and experiencing the outdoors. Woodland Lakes Christian Camp and Retreat Center is partnering with American Heritage Girls to provide a resident camp this summer 2018. Woodland Lakes is a Christian camp who has a full time staff that will partner with AHG adult volunteers/leaders to create a unique camp experience for American Heritage Girls. Woodland Lakes' staff will specifically be leading and directing the free time activities offered at summer camp. AHG adult volunteers/leaders and Camp Committee members will be planning, organizing, and leading the badge sessions at camp. AHG Camp GTR is an American Heritage Girl (AHG) resident summer camp designed for AHG girl members and their registered troop adult volunteers. All participating girls and adults must be registered American Heritage Girls and may reside in any AHG area. AHG Camp GTR offers two camp sessions that partially overlap during the same week. o Tenderheart Session: AHG girls whom are entering the 2 nd grade - 3 rd grade in Fall 2018. o Explorer, Pioneers, and Patriot Session: AHG girls whom are entering the 4 th grade - 12 th grade in Fall 2018. When is AHG Camp GTR? Tenderheart Session: Sunday, July 29 th through Wednesday, August 1 st. Explorers, Pioneers, and Patriot Session: Sunday, July 29 th through Friday, August 3 rd. Where is AHG Camp GTR? The camp is taking place at Woodland Lakes Christian Camp & Retreat Center located at 3054 Lindale Mt. Holly Rd., Amelia, Ohio 45102. The camp phone number is 513-797-5268.

2 Why attend AHG Camp GTR? The mission of AHG Camp GTR is to develop and grow virtuous young women as stated in Proverbs 31:10. The desire is to allow girls to become virtuous women through spiritual growth, friendship building, and earning badges all while exploring and experiencing the outdoors. What is the cost of AHG Camp GTR? Tenderheart Session: $200 per girl Explorer/Pioneer/Patriot Session: $260 per girl AHG Adult Volunteer/Leaders: $110 per adult o The fee includes accommodations, meals, and t-shirt. Optional Adventures for Explorer/Pioneer/Patriot Girls: (Please noted space is limited and transportation to and from is included) o Kayak Experience: $20 per girl (includes an off-site kayak trip) Only Pi/Pa girls who have completed the Canoeing badge at Camp GTR in the past or are enrolled in this year's 2018 Camp GTR Canoeing session are eligible to attend. o High Ropes Challenge Course Experience: $20 per girl Pi/Pa girls are invited to participate in this 2 hour high ropes challenge course with multiple elements including a zipline. o Adventure Track - NO additional cost The adventure trek includes an offsite backpacking trek, geocaching, and camping experience. Only girls who have previously attending Camp GTR are eligible. Badges that will be worked on include: Survival Search and Rescue, Where in the World, Hiking, and Outdoor Skills. o Geocaching/Hiking Excursion - EXPLORERS only - $5 additional per girl Explorer girls will be transported to East Fork State Park Lake where girls will hike and search for geocaches. What kind of activities will my daughter participate? Depending on the age of the girl, she will have an opportunity to: o Earn badges o Archery o Hiking o Zip line into the Lake o Swimming in the lake and a pool o Canoeing/Kayaking o Team building activities o Campfires o Swaps o Climbing Wall

Will my daughter earn badges? Yes! o Tenderheart aged girls will work to earn: Boating, Fishing, Outdoor Skills, and Textile Arts. o Explorers, Pioneers and Patriots will have an opportunity to sign up to work to earn four of the following badges: Archery, Bible Basics, Canoeing, Caring for My Environment, Climb-On, Creative Crafts, Creative Writing, Emergency Prep, Engineering, Fire Safety & Fire Building, Outdoor Cooking, Outdoor Skills, Photography, Stick Shifts & Safety Belts, Survival Search & Rescue, Swimming, and Where in the World. NOTE: In some cases, girls will meet requirements of several badges, but not earn an entire badge. Some badges will require work to be done outside of camp to be completed. A full list of badge work completed at camp will be provided to troop coordinators or the troop camp contact after the completion of camp. Also, please see reference "General information about AHG Summer Camp GTR" for a clear list of work that needs to be completed prior or after camp to complete badges. Badges will be ordered through your troop and are not included in the cost of camp. 3 What are the accommodations? Tenderheart girls and their adult leaders/volunteers will stay in a lodge-type building with a central common area and 4 rooms that are located off the center area that have wood bunk beds and mattresses. TH accommodations have indoor plumbing. Explorers will either be in a large common room with bunk beds or in cabins with bunk beds and mattresses. Pioneer/Patriot girls and their adult leaders/volunteers will stay in cabins with wood bunk beds and mattresses. All cabins have some form of electricity. A central shower facility is available to girls and adults complete with flushable toilets within walking distance. Girls will have the majority of their meals at the dining hall. How are cabins/accommodations assigned? Girls are assigned to cabins first based on level (Tenderheart, Explorer, Pioneer, Patriot). After level, they are assigned by troops. Basically, the Camp GTR committee does everything in its power to keep troops together within a cabin/lodge accommodation. If other girls from your daughter's troop are attending camp, we do our best to put them together so they are not alone and will know someone. What should be packed? A packing list is available on the AHG Camp GTR website: www.ahgcampgtr.weebly.com/ PLEASE note: girls are not to bring any electronics including cell phones and ipods to camp. Only AHG adult volunteers may have cell phones at camp. See packing list for specifics.

What forms are needed and when are they due? NEW policy: all paperwork is DUE before camp check-in. Basically, no paperwork will be accepted at camp check-in. All forms/paperwork MUST be postmarked by May 1, 2018. All forms needed are available on the AHG Camp GTR website: www.ahgcampgtr.weebly.com Forms need to be mailed to: o AHG Camp GTR, C/O Sheri Shockey, 6200 Pine Point, Huber Heights, OH 45424 PLEASE NOTE: FORMS are COMPETELY separate from final payment. Meaning ALL money MUST go through the troop. Forms may be sent separately by individuals or sent together as a troop. 4 PARENTS WANT TO KNOW... What about food/dietary allergies? Camp GTR is NO longer able to accommodate food allergies due to a policy change at our host facility. Woodland Lakes Christian Camp is NOT a peanut/tree-nut free facility. However, Camp GTR and Woodland Lakes Christian Camp desire to create as safe environment as possible and will take precautions to serve food, to the best of our ability, that is peanut and tree-nut free. Meals are served in a buffet line allowing campers to choose the items they do or do not want on their plate. For medically necessary food restrictions, as denoted on your AHG health and medical form, a camp volunteer is available to assist campers to determine if foods contain allergens, but ultimately, a girl must be able to make a decision if she can or cannot eat a certain food. If a girl is not ready for this responsibility, a parent or leader from her troop who is attending camp can assist her. PLEASE NOTE: A gluten free cereal will be available at every meal, and salad will be available at every lunch and dinner. Can I bring food from home for my daughter if she has an allergy? No, unfortunately, there is no space to store or prepare food. Can mail be sent to the camper? Yes! Camp Mail can be sent to: AHG Camp GTR, c/o Woodland Lakes Christian Camp, Your Camper's Name, 3054 Lindale Mt. Holly Road, Amelia, OH 45102 Additionally, parents/guardians may bring mail to camp on camp "check-in" day. If you label your mail with the name of the camper and date that you want her to receive it, the camp committee will be sure your daughter gets her mail. This will save on the cost of stamps! Can my daughter camp without her leader? Explorer/Pioneer/Patriot girls may attend without their troop or an adult. Tenderheart girls MUST have a leader/adult from her troop at the camp. The leader/adult does not necessarily have to camp with the Tenderheart girls, but he/she must be on the camp campus. NOTE: if a troop is sending more than 3 girls, a troop must provide leadership at camp regardless of level.

Besides AHG volunteers/leaders, will there be other staff at the camp? Yes. Woodland Lakes is a Christian camp and employs a full and part time Christian staff. This staff will work with AHG volunteers/leaders in running summer camp. Woodland Lakes Christian Camp staff will mainly assist with free time programming. Only AHG registered adult volunteers/leaders will be used to maintain safety ratios as well as stay with girls in cabins/lodges. 5 Should I send extra money to camp with my camper? No! However, Camp GTR merchandise will be available for purchase at camp sign in and camp sign out, but girls should not keep money with them. What about First Aid and Medical Issues? An AHG adult volunteer with medical training/education will serve as the Health and Safety Coordinator at Camp. She is First Aid and CPR certified. She will be available as needed to ASSIST troops and oversee the health and safety of girls at camp. Individual troops will need to identify a health and safety lead that is willing to dispense medications as needed to girls while at camp. Medication will be kept at a central location at Woodland Lake's first aid station. All girls needing to take medication must have a Medication Administration Form filled out by the parent for EACH medication the girl is taking. All emergencies will be handled in accordance with the AHG Health and Safety Guidelines. In addition, each Troop must carry a first aid kit. Camp GTR works to secure a camp nurse each year. He/she is able to help dispense medications as needed. Do the girls and adults need to be swim tested prior to camp? NO! EVERY girl will be swim tested at Woodland Lakes Christian Camp before the first assigned swim time. NOTE: there is a pool and a lake at Woodland Lakes Christian Camp. Are there specific canoeing requirements? YES! Only Explorer/Pioneer/Patriot aged girls may participate. ALL girls must PASS the camp swim test. Additionally, for those girls signed up to EARN the canoeing badge: o MUST be able to demonstrate that she can comfortably swim 100 yards without stopping, using the front crawl, breast stroke, or side stroke. In addition, after swimming the 100 yards, the girl must turn over on her back and float for a minimum of 2 minutes. o Please reference AHG Handbook page 214 for specific requirements. Tell me more about this Adventure Track. Adventure track is for girls who have previously attended AHG Camp GTR and looking for a more in-depth outdoor experience. It is for Pioneer and Patriot girls only. If a girl signs up for the Adventure Track, it will replace 2 badge sessions (C and D)

Badges that will be worked on include: Survival Search and Rescue, Where in the World, Hiking, and Outdoor Skills. It is the desire of the committee to have girls COMPLETELY earn the badges, but completion will be dependent on weather. Girls will be spending one night in a survival shelter (weather permitting). An additional night in a tent may be offered. Tents will be provided if needed. A backpacking pack is needed for Adventure Track (soft or hard). Girls who do not already own a pack should attempt to borrow one, or if able, purchase one for use while at camp. Only a limited number will be available for borrowing. Girls participating in the Adventure Track will go off-site to hike, but will not be spending the night off-site. They will be gone during free-time for one day of camp. 6 When will the girls participate in the OPTIONAL Adventures? MOST optional adventures occur during "FREE-Time" at camp, which is usually every afternoon as well as Friday morning. Thus, girls who choose to sign up to participate in Optional Adventure (excluding Adventure Track) will be giving up free time to participate. Please note that OPTIONAL adventures take place during free time, but girls will only be giving up one freetime during the week to participate per each activity chosen. Pi/Pa Kayak Trip will take place during free time on Friday, August 3rd in the morning. Pi/Pa High Ropes Challenge Course Experience will take place during afternoon FREE-time activities. Girls will be assigned a day and time sometime during their camp week. However, it will occur during FREE-time; thus, girls who sign up will have to give up their FREE-time activities for one day to participate. Explorer Geocaching will take place either during afternoon FREE-time or Friday morning Free-time. We do not have the exact time/date, but it will occur during FREE-time. My daughter has an activity during the week of camp. May I pick her up then bring her back to camp? There will be no coming and going from camp without pre-approval from the camp director. Due to safety, the Camp GTR will be limiting girls coming and going from camp especially for sporting events. The Camp Director will consider on a case by case basis. Please contact the Camp Director with questions. All requests need to be made by July 1st to be considered. Can my daughter have visitors at camp? No guests or visitors are permitted on the camp without advance permission from the Camp director. Leaders/AHG Adult Volunteers Want to Know... Can any adult or parent attend camp? No. All adult volunteers must be REGISTERED AHG Members. Besides AHG volunteers/leaders, will there be other staff at the camp? Yes. Woodland Lakes is a Christian camp and employs full time Christian staff each year. This staff will work with AHG volunteers/leaders in running summer camp.

7 What will adult volunteers be doing at camp? Most of your days will be filled with making sure the girls get to their activities and supervising girls during non-activity time. Additional duties include: assisting at badge sessions, and/or assisting the camp staff. At time of registration, adults should be prepared to sign up to volunteer for 4 sessions each day. Options include second adults at badge sessions, free time activities, and night time activities. The camp committee is ALWAYS seeking volunteers to help lead badge sessions. If an adult volunteers to lead a badge session, his/her daughter will get priority camp registration. What training or preparation by adult volunteers is needed for camp? All adult volunteers must be a registered AHG member. Have completed the KEYS Training. Have completed the AHG Outdoor Training (Indoor Classroom portion). This material can be found on AHG Source in the "Training & Leadership Development" section specifically the "outdoor" training module. Adult volunteers should coordinate with Troop Coordinator or Camp Coordinator to find the best placement for each adult attending camp to best match them with their activity, badge help, etc. Does a Troop Trip Notification Form need to be submitted? Yes! Each Troop will need to complete their own Troop Trip Notification Form online. National is requiring specific information on the troop notification and thus, should NOT be submitted until the Camp GTR Director provides the necessary information Form completion deadline is June 1, 2018 Will there be an Orientation for adult volunteers at camp? Yes! On Sunday evening, while the girls are enjoying activities with AHG volunteers, adult volunteers/leaders will attend an Orientation Meeting. You will learn your role at camp, your responsibilities, and how to handle emergencies. Can I volunteer to lead a badge session (if you don't feel comfortable leading, you can also volunteer to assist a badge session)? YES! Camp GTR Committee is ALWAYS seeking volunteers to lead badge sessions at camp. Please remember it takes lots of volunteers to run a successful camp. Even if leading a badge is not something you want to do, you can always assist with a badge session and help the lead gather materials, plan, etc. If you volunteer to lead a badge, you will get "priority" registration for yourself and daughter to attend camp. What does leading a badge session look like? As a badge session leader, you are committing to lead two 45 minute badge sessions per day (excluding Friday) while at camp. You will get to pick what level you want to lead: Explorers or Pioneer and Patriots. You will need to review the AHG handbook for the badge you are leading and develop a curriculum to teach the girls at camp.

8 You provide supplies and equipment needed to lead your badge. Each badge session leader will have a budget and can submit receipts for reimbursement. Most sessions have about 15 girls, but some may have a few less or more depending on registration. You will have another adult to help you per session. Is there an incentive to lead a badge session at camp? YES! If you volunteer to lead a badge, you and your daughter will get to register for camp before the general population gets to register. As an Adult Volunteer, can I bring my other kids? Can non-ahg siblings attend? No! Your attention will need to be on campers. Only REGISTERED AHG members can attend. FINANCIAL MATTERS... How do we register? Registration begins February 15th and ends April 30 th, 2018. REGISTER EARLY due to limited space!!! To register, go to www.ahgcampgtr.weebly.com o Click on the links on the top of the page labeled "Registration." o Complete the appropriate form. o Notify your Troop Coordinator or Troop Camp Coordinator of your camp registration and turn in the first payment of $50 to your troop. NOTE: Woodland Lakes Christian Camp requires a deposit; thus, Camp GTR will be REQUIRING an initial payment of $50 per girl to be postmarked by March 15th. Failure to make this payment will result in the loss of the spot at camp. How do we pay? Parents will make their checks payable to their daughter's AHG Troop Coordinator and/or Troop Camp Coordinator Once monies have been received by the Troop, the Troop Coordinator or Troop Camp Coordinator will need to send ONE troop check payable to HHCOG AHG OH0413. o First Payment: ($50 per girl) must be postmarked by March 15th, 2018 in order to complete the registration process. o Final Payments (remainder of camp cost) and ALL FORMS must be postmarked by May 1, 2018. Payment must be mailed to the address below. AHG Camp GTR C/O Shockey 6200 Pine Point Huber Heights, OH 45424 Are refunds offered? No! Refunds will not be provided. However, a girl may transfer her spot to another camper.

9 TROOP PAPERWORK REQUIRED... Does the Troop need to submit a completed Troop Trip Notification Form? YES! Just like every other camping trip, the Troop Coordinator is required to submit a completed Troop Trip Notification Form via ONLINE through AHG Connect by June 1, 2018. How will a Troop know who has registered online or not? All registrants are encouraged to notify their Troop Coordinator or Troop Camp Coordinator of their plans to attend regional camp. In addition, the AHG Camp GTR committee will attempt to notify Troop Coordinators via email with who has registered for camp online from your troop. If you have any questions about those that have registered, please contact the committee at ahgcampgtr@gmail.com CAMP ARRIVAL AND CHECK-IN PROCEDURE... Each individual family will be responsible for getting campers to Woodland Lakes Christian Camp unless prior arrangements have been made with your troop. Parents must stay onsite until the girls have connected with their Troop leadership. Girls may not be left unattended. Upon arriving, all campers will be given a card with "stations" on it. For example, "paperwork" station, "nurse/medical" station, "merchandise" station, etc. Each camper will need to visit EVERY station to complete the check-in process. At each station, the paper will be signed. Once all stations have a signature then you will go to the final station where girls will get their name tags/lanyards. All campers including camping adults will need to complete a "Wellness Check." o During the Wellness Checks, each camper will have the following evaluated : Lice check Recent illness check Medication review/check in o If for some reason a girl or adult does not pass the wellness checks, she will be permitted to return to camp once the issue is resolved. For example, if a girl has a fever, she may return to camp once she has been fever free for 24 hours. Check-In for both camp sessions will begin at 1:00 pm and run until 3:00 pm on the first day of camp. Campers may not arrive early or late. Please note: The Check-In process involves visiting several "stations." You do not have to attend all "stations" in a specific order. Feel free to go to another "station" if there is a long line. For example, there is a "paperwork" station and a "nurse station," if the nurse station has a long line, feel free to go to another station and come back to the "paperwork" station once the line is less. It is just important to visit ALL stations to complete the check-in process.
