Curriculum Vitae Professor Pearl, Yueh-Hsiu Lin, Ph. D.,CHA Professor Pearl Lin earned her Master Degree from the University of Oregon, USA in 1984, and her Ph.D. from the Oxford Brookes University, UK in 1997. Professor Lin is currently the President of the National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism (NKUHT) in Taiwan starting from the 1 st of April, 2016. Before she became the president, she was the Dean of School of Hospitality Management at the NKUHT. She also serves as the President of Chinese Hospitality Education Association (CHEA) and the Director of Industry Relations for the APac-CHRIE board. Prior to her academic tenure with the NKUHT, she was Dean of Academic Affairs in Taiwan Hospitality and Tourism College, and Visiting Professor of School of Hotel and Tourism Management at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2008. She earned her full professorship in 2006 when she was with the Graduate Institute of Tourism & Recreation Management at National Dong Hwa University in Hualien, Taiwan. She has been a Life Member of World Leisure & Recreation Association (now World Leisure Organization, WLO) since 1990, and Director of Chinese Tourism Management Association since 2004. In addition to her academic performance, Professor Lin has, applied her professionalism to assist industry s improvements; for instance, she was appointed as Board Director for Promised Land Resort & Lagoon ranked as one of the top 100 resorts in the world, and Yamay International Development Co., which represents a total of US$44 million of Government investment in both projects. Professor Pearl Lin has published an extensive amount of Chinese textbooks in both Hospitality and Tourism fields, and her latest research focuses on the ethical issues with respect to hospitality & tourism. She intends to raise the awareness of the hospitality & tourism educators toward this critical aspect within this profession. She looks forward to serving as bridge for the academia and industry, whereby she may provide more state-of-art expertise benefiting both parties. Her ambition is to commence her own social enterprise after retirement. She would apply commercial strategies that she is familiar with to maximize improvements in the human and environmental well-being of our society, especially for those single parents.
