The airport experienced positive passenger growth for the 30th consecutive month with respect to the year over year monthly increases. During the first eleven months of 2017, RNO served 3,680,468 passengers, an increase of 9.9% when compared to the same period in 2016. In November 2017, RNO was served by nine airlines providing 1,504 departures to 20 nonstop destinations (22 nonstop destinations if seasonal flights are included). At RNO, total seat capacity increased 4.6% and flights decreased 2.7% when compared to November 2016. RNO, handled 12,440,097 pounds of air cargo in November 2017, a decrease of 5.0% when compared to November 2016. During the first eleven months of 2017, RNO handled 137,383,663 pounds of air cargo, a decrease of 1.3% when compared to the same period last year. On November 21, 2017, Frontier Airlines began nonstop flights between RNO and Denver International Airport (DEN) three times a week. The airline offers this service on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, on 180seat Airbus A320 aircraft. The RNODEN route is also served by United Airlines and Southwest Airlines. Starting January 3, 2018, Alaska Airlines introduced Embraer E175 aircraft on Select routes at RNO. The E175 aircraft is a 76seat jet, and offers more space than the Bombardier Q400 aircraft, which is currently being utilized by Alaska Airlines at RNO.

In November 2017, United Airlines reported a passenger increase of 24.0%, Delta Air Lines was up 21.7% and American Airlines reported an increase of 7.2% versus November 2016. Alaska Airlines passenger traffic was down 26.2%, JetBlue Airways was down 13.9% and Allegiant Air reported a decrease of 5.7% during the same period. Frontier Airlines served a total of 1,596 passengers during the month of November 2017. Volaris served 1,967 passengers during the month of November 2017, a decrease of 36.4% when compared to November 2016. Cargo In November 2017, DHL reported an increase of 17.5% in cargo tonnage and UPS increased 9.6% when compared to November 2016. FedEx reported a decrease of 14.7% during the same period.

This reduction is mainly attributed to a decrease in Alaska Airlines flights. The airline operated 35% fewer flights during the same period. Recent and Upcoming Schedule Changes Alaska Airlines From February 1, 2018, through March 10, 2018, Alaska Airlines will reduce the number of nonstop flights between Reno and Portland from three flights a day to twice a day. Alaska Airlines eliminated the nonstop flights between Reno and Orange County. The last day of this flight was January 2, 2018. American Airlines Starting January 12, 2018, American Airlines will offer the nonstop semiseasonal flights between Reno and Chicago O Hare International Airport four days a week (Friday through Monday) before returning to a six days a week schedule on February 15, 2018. The airline will not offer this flight from April 3, 2018, through May 3, 2018. American Airlines increases the number of daily flights between Reno and Phoenix from three to four/five flights a day from February 15, 2018, through May 3, 2018. American Airlines increases the number of daily flights between Reno and Los Angeles from four to five flights a day from April 4, 2018, through May 3, 2018. Delta Air Lines Delta Air Lines nonstop seasonal flight between Reno and Atlanta operated daily from December 22, 2017, through January 2, 2018. Starting January 6, 2018, the airline will operate this route on weekends only, until April 1, 2018. Starting March 2, 2018, Delta Air Lines will increase the number of daily flights between Reno and Salt Lake City from fours flights a day to five flights a day. The additional flight is expected to remain in schedule through the end of summer 2018. JetBlue Airways The nonstop flight between Reno and New York City operates five days a week, Thursday through Monday. JetBlue will offer this flight daily from March 7, 2018, through March 19, 2018. JetBlue offers daily nonstop flights between Reno and Long Beach. The airline will offer this route twice a day from February 15, 2018, through February 26, 2018. United Airlines United Airlines nonstop seasonal flight between Reno and Houston will operate on Saturdays and Sundays, from January 13, 2018, through February 11, 2018. This flight is offered daily from February 15, 2018, through April 8, 2018. United Airlines nonstop seasonal flight between Reno and Chicago O Hare will operate on weekends only from December 23, 2017, through April 1, 2018. United Airlines will offer this flight daily from June 7, 2018, through August 20, 2018. Starting April 9, 2018, United Airlines will increase the number of daily flights between Reno and Los Angeles from one flight a day to twice a day. Southwest Airlines The nonstop seasonal flight between Reno and Dallas Love Field operates on weekends only. The daily nonstop seasonal flight between Reno and Chicago Midway was temporarily suspended on November 5, 2017. This flight will return to the regular schedule on March 8, 2018. Starting March 8, 2018, Southwest Airlines will reduce the number of daily flights between Reno and San Jose from twice a day to once a day.
