Camp Basics Locations Voyager, Discovery, Explorer Camps Washington Elementary School 2300 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Berkeley (enter on McKinley Ave) Middle School Xtreme Camp YMCA PG&E Teen Center 2111 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Berkeley Hours Monday Friday 9:00am-4:00pm Drop off: 8:00am-9:00am Pick up: 4:00pm-4:15pm After Care 4:00pm-6:00pm $25 per camper per week (additional fee, registration required) Our aftercare program provides campers with light activities and free time in designated areas. Parents can pick up anytime during the extended care hours. Registration and payment for extended care is required at time of registration. In order to staff properly, we cannot take additional children on a daily basis. STAFF We strive to hire an enthusiastic staff team to provide a safe, active and enjoyable program for all involved. Staff are trained in small group management and safety, how to lead group games and activities, conflict resolution, as well as in CPR/First Aid & Child Abuse Prevention. CAMP REGISTRATION 1. Register at the Downtown Berkeley YMCA Welcome Desk or online: www.dtby.org 2. Follow instructions to complete the registration information. 3. A $30 deposit per week or full payment is required to secure a spot for each week your child will be attending. Deposits are nonrefundable and nontransferable. 4. If registering with deposits, 2 options are available for balance due payments: 1) Set up auto pay to a credit card or bank account (see payment schedule below) by calling (510) 665-3271. 2) Pay the balance due online or in person by the payment schedule below. Balances and auto payments are due/withdrawn on the Monday prior to the week your child is registered for. Failure to pay by the deadline will result in a loss of camp that week for your child. If your payment is declined, a service charge of $25 will be applied. Each camp will spend 2-3 days on site rotating through enrichment areas where camp staff will run engaging activities with the campers. Our enrichment areas include: science, cooking, art, and outdoor group games. Camps will also swim at the YMCA and visit local parks on designated on site days. TYPICAL ON SITE DAY 8:00am-9:00am Sign in, structured free-play 9:00am-10:00am Camp opening, Small group time 10:00am-12:00pm: Enrichment area rotations 12:00pm-1:00pm: Lunch and free play 1:00pm-3:30pm: Enrichment area rotations 3:30pm-3:45pm Camp closing 4:00pm-4:15pm Sign out 4:00pm 6:00pm After Care (if applicable) Off Site Days Camps will spend their off site days on field trips around the Bay Area to regional parks, museums, and local fun centers. Our goal is to expose our campers to engaging, interactive, and fun experiences. Though camp activities, trips, etc. may change without notice from time to time, we strive to replace it with a comparable activity. Weekly camp schedules will be available on line and at the camp sign in table at least one week prior to each camp week. TYPICAL Off Site DAY 8:00am 9:00am Sign-in, structured free-play 9:00am 9:15am Camp opening 9:30am Roll call, depart 12:00pm 1:00pm Lunch 4:00pm Return to site 4:00pm-4:15pm Sign out 4:00pm 6:00pm After Care (if applicable) CANCELLATIONS Cancellations must be in writing. If received at least one full business week prior to the canceled week, a refund for that week of camp minus the $30 deposit is available. If cancellation is submitted less than one week prior to the week of camp, half of the full camp payment will not be refunded. No refunds will be made after 5:00pm on the Friday before the camp week begins. Email tpfeifer@ymcacba.org for all cancellation and refund requests. MEDICAL NEEDS If your camper has a life threatening condition, special medical need, or needs to take medication at camp, a medical plan from a doctor or a medical form is required prior to attending camp. This form can be found on our website. WHAT TO BRING TO DAY CAMP Please bring a backpack that includes: 1. A healthy lunch 2. 2 large snacks (we no longer provide snacks) 3. Swimsuit (on designated swim days) 4. Water bottle 5. Sunscreen and/or hat Please Label All Belongings!

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE Financial Assistance is available to make YMCA Summer Day Camp accessible to everyone. Our Financial Assistance fund is made up of donations to the YMCA Annual Campaign by families and individuals in the community. Applications available at dtby.org and at the Welcome Desk beginning February 15. To Apply: Complete an application even if already receiving YMCA Financial Assistance. Submit applications at least one month prior to the week of camp you wish to attend. A notification letter regarding your application will be sent within five business days after applying. Once you receive your letter, make sure to register for camp with $30 per week deposits by the deadline on your letter. Please note: We do not accept Financial Assistance applications from families who are receiving subsidized funds for camp from other agencies. No refunds/pro-rates will be granted on past weeks of camp. Overnight Camps At overnight camp, kids disconnect from the electronic world and connect with the real one making new friends, exploring the great outdoors, and making connections with both kids and staff. The Y of the East Bay has three diverse locations which allows campers to get outside the city, explore majestic forests, star-filled nights and wander trails leading to amazing adventures. Y Camp is a place that builds self-esteem, creates magical memories and leaves an undeniable impact on all who visit.
