We hope the following information will assist you with your attendance at the meeting and make your stay in Lausanne more enjoyable. How to reach Lausanne from Geneva or Zurich airports? From Geneva airport Trains After Customs, turn left and walk through the whole building. Go through the revolving door, you will enter the railway station. The counter to buy your ticket is on the opposite side of the hall. You will also find ticket machines in the hall. (The one-way journey to Lausanne lasts approx. 45 minutes. A nd class one-way ticket costs CHF 5.-, payment by cash or credit card). You can find the schedule of the Swiss railway or buy your ticket online on: www.cff.ch From Zurich airport Trains After Customs, follow the signs indicating the train station, which is located in the second basement of the airport, under Terminal B. (The one-way journey from Zurich to Lausanne lasts approx. h30. A nd class one-way ticket costs CHF 69.-, payment by cash or credit card). Cross the street and take the METRO M direction "Croisette". Get out of the M at the stop "Lausanne-Flon", take the elevator up to the first floor and walk straight on trough the narrow bridge. Cross the road. You will reach the Rue Pichard. From the Rue Pichard, turn down at the first street on your right (Rue Grand-St-Jean), you will see the hotel sign on the left. At the Lausanne railway station, you can also reach the hotel by bus. Take the exit of the building, direction City Centre. Take the bus # (direction Blécherette ) in front of the train station. The bus stop for the hotel is Bel Air. Walk a few metres back on the bridge (Grand Pont). At the Hug Musique shop, turn left into the street Pichard and turn down at the first street on your right (Rue Grand-St-Jean). On the Place, turn left in direction towards the Swisscom Shop. At the Swisscom shop, continue 60 meters straight and turn left on Rue Chaucrau. The hotel is on the right side (see map below). Cross the street and take the METRO M direction Ouchy. Ouchy is the terminal stop of the metro run. In Ouchy, exit the metro station and turn left, the hotel is just around the corner. Once you ve checked in, you will receive a transport pass from your hotel, with which you can get around for free throughout Lausanne. From the Hotels Regina and Crystal, go to the metro station at Lausanne-Flon. From Lausanne-Flon metro station, take the METRO M (TSOL) and get out at the metro station UNIL-Sorge. From the Hotels Au Lac and A la Gare, take the METRO M direction Croisettes. Get out at the first stop: Lausanne-Flon. From Lausanne-Flon metro station, take the METRO M (TSOL) and get out at the metro station UNIL-Sorge. The journey with the M lasts 5 minutes. You will find a map of the UNIL at the page 5. Taxis Service : dial 0844 84 84 (grey cars) It is also possible to reach the University of Lausanne with a cab. The trip to UNIL costs about CHF 30.- (cash). Self-service bikes Velopass allows you to borrow a self-service bike and to run from a place to another. Interested? Conference Venue On Thursday 3 rd May and Friday 4 th May at the AMPHIMAX building, room 44 (see map of the UNIL campus below). Registration Please register to get your badges on Wednesday, nd May, 8:00-0:30, at the Hotel Mövenpick, Avenue de Rhodanie 4, 000 Lausanne, Tel. 004 6 76 (www.moevenpick-lausanne.com). The registration is followed by a welcome reception. Internet Access A wireless Internet access will be provided for all delegates during the meeting in all rooms and cafeterias. In order to use it, select the network name (SSID) 'guest-unil' and enter the following password: UNICA Switzerland s voltage is 30V and has differently shaped plugs. You will probably need an adapter. Please ask your hotel or IRO UNIL team. Badges Conference name badges will be handed out at the registration desk and should be worn during sessions, breaks, lunches and evening events. Coffee breaks and lunches Coffee breaks will be served in the same building as the sessions (Amphimax building). Lunches will be served at Le Château on Thursday and at the Unithèque building on Friday (main cafeteria, see UNIL campus map above). Language spoken The official language of the meeting is English. The language spoken in Lausanne is French. Switzerland has four official languages: German, French, Italian and Romanche. English is often used as a lingua-franca between the different language communities of the country. In the tourist areas there will usually be English-speakers. Public transport You will receive a public transport pass from your hotel, which will allow you free transport throughout Lausanne. Please ask for a map of the city of Lausanne and a map of the public transport system at your hotel. Currency Switzerland uses the Swiss franc ( ~.0 CHF). Euro banknotes may be accepted in some places but the exchange rate will not be good and you will receive change in Swiss francs. Telephone To call Lausanne from a country outside Switzerland you need to dial 004 or +4 for Switzerland and then for the dialing code for landlines in Lausanne or 79, 78, 77, 76 for Swiss mobile phones.
