Email: info@fletchernc.org Visit our web site at: www.fletchernc.org NCDOT is currently seeking public input regarding the upcoming prioritization of various road projects in the area. One of the projects under consideration is the modernization of Fanning Bridge Road, which would hopefully involve improvements to several dangerous curves, shoulder widening, and sidewalks. Please visit the link below to provide your input. When the site opens, a box will pop up asking you to select your County (Henderson). Then you will need to zoom in to the Fanning Bridge Road area, click on the road, and another box will pop up asking for your input. When you are done, you will have to go to the right side of the screen and select finish, and another box will pop up where you will select finish again. You can also scroll around on the map and provide input on other projects, however, Fanning Bridge is the only one in Fletcher under consideration. https://ncdot-stip.metroquest.com/#!/? p=web&u=ncdotstip.metroquest.com&pm=dynamic&theme=v7 NC DOT will be accepting input through July 9, 2018. Page 2 Universal Health Care of Fletcher Earns 2018 Bronze National Quality Award Fletcher, North Carolina Universal Health Care of Fletcher has been recognized as a 2018 recipient of the BRONZE COMMITMENT TO QUALITY AWARD for its commitment to improve the lives of residents through the Quality Award Program, presented by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL); the leading association for long term and post-acute care. The program honors association members across the country that has demonstrated their dedication to improving quality of care for seniors and persons with disabilities. The National Quality Award Program, established in 1996 is based on the core values and criteria of the Baldridge Performance Excellence Program, which also serves as the foundation or the metric-based AHCA/ NCAL Quality Initiative. The awards will be presented during AHCA/NCAL s Annual Convention and Exposition in San Diego, California, October 7-10, 2018. Universal Health Care of Fletcher is located at 86 Old Airport Road. The Meals on Wheels program provides a hot meal every weekday for homebound older adults in Henderson County. Meals are delivered by volunteer drivers between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. In addition to receiving a nutritious meal, Meals on Wheels clients receive important social interaction with caring volunteers. These visits, which also serve as a regular wellness checks, often turn into lasting friendships. Drivers are always needed to deliver! Volunteer drivers can work just one day a week, if they d like or more, if they have time available. Meals are delivered five days a week, except major holidays or emergencies (including bad weather). TRASH TALK PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT 654-9208 Jabbo Pressley - Director Please follow the guidelines for trash disposal using the roll-out cans! All trash must be bagged within the roll-out trash receptacle! This is to prevent trash from blowing out when the can is lifted into the truck. If Public Works employees discover the contents are not bagged, they will tag the can and not pick up the contents! Do not leave bags of trash outside of the rolling carts or leave the carts in the roadway. Public Works employees have encountered a continuing problem with residents leaving loose trash or additional bags or boxes of trash placed beside the rolling trash cans. Due to recent high winds, employees have been physically laying the trash cans down to keep the wind from blowing them into the road. We ask that you write your address on the lid of your trash cart with an indelible marker to help you identify your cart. Mowing? The Town does not pick up grass clippings. We recommend that you use mulching blades and return the clippings to the yard or compost them. If you must dispose of the clippings, the Henderson County Transfer station located at 802 Stoney Mountain Road will accept these materials. You may now request a brush pickup online! Go to the Town website -www.fletchernc.org and you may access the link either from the How do I link at the top or through the Public Works department link. Brush pick up does start on Monday mornings (unless it is a holiday) and pick up requests must be in before Monday morning. The Town does not pick up brush from a commercial cut. If you hire someone to trim trees and limbs, removal is part of the service you are paying for when you hire them. Brush does not include pampas grass or landscaping timbers. And please, when cleaning up your property, do not put poison oak or ivy vines or briars in brush pickup piles! The Public Works employees are handling every limb by hand. Be considerate of Public Works employees! Drivers deliver a friendly smile along with a warm meal and chat with clients for several minutes. To volunteer, contact Council on Aging at http://coahc.org/volunteers/ or call (828) 692-4203.
