It aims to encourage and promote Indian knowledge and culture within The Netherlands by organizing regular events showcasing various cultural art forms of India such as music, dance and cinema. The centre also organizes regular talks on different aspects of India from time to time. The facilities at the Gandhi Centre are available to all for performances, conducting lectures and workshops.
Upcoming Events Saturday,14 th July 2018 Indian Classical Vocal and Dance By Pandit Iman Das(Classical Vocalist) & Smt Snigdha Sinha (Bharatnatyam) Pandit Iman Das is an Indian classical vocalist from Patiala Gharana. He has learnt from Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty and Pandit Shantanu Bhattacharya, from the same Gharana. Pandit Iman Das is a high graded vocalist of All India Radio who has performed all over India and Europe. He has also acted in self-written Hindi Drama Meera through the mystic dreams of Devi Indira. He has also been performing regularly with International world music fusion bands like Shringar, ISM etc. He will be performing with Bharatnatyam Dancer Smt Snigdha Sinha. Saturday, 28 th July 2018 Quiz on Bollywood Divas Celebrating the Quintessential Hindi Film Heroine By Phanindra Ivatury From Madhubala to Madhuri, from Saira Banu to Sri Devi, from Asha Parekh to Aishwarya and from Narigs to Nargis Fakhri, the ideal Bollywood heroine has never failed to enthrall us. In a Hero dominated industry, the Hindi film heroine has fought her way to guts and glory. The Gandhi Centre, Embassy of India, Hague hereby announces Quiz on Bollywood Divas (Heroines) to be held on 28 th July, 2018 at The Gandhi Centre. International Quiz Host Mr Phanindra Ivatury would be hosting the event. Each team can consist of two persons of any age group. Preliminary Round of the contest would be held between 3.00PM to 3.20PM. It would be in the form of a written Questionnaire consisting of 20 questions on the topic to be answered in a time frame of 20 minutes. The top five teams with the top five scores would advance to contest in the Grand Finale which would be held on the same day between 4.00 PM to 6.30 PM Walk In : 14 30hrs Preliminary Round : 15 00 hrs 15 20 hrs Final Quiz Round : 17 00hrs 1800hrs The program will be held in the auditorium of The Gandhi Centre
Regular Classes The Gandhi Centre conducts Yoga, Hindi and Tabla classes. These classes are open to everyone and are FREE of charge. The classes are designed to cater to all age groups and levels, from beginners to advanced. Yoga Class at The Gandhi Centre YOGA Mr Amit Khanna is a Yoga Therapist and Expert who has more than 8 years of experience in Yoga therapy. He holds degrees in Physiotherapy and Yoga and is an expert in imparting and designing yoga therapy protocol based on various medical conditions and life style disorders. Yoga is a science and art of healthy living with origins in ancient India. It is a potent stress management tool and its practice increases immunity and contributes to overall personality development. Hindi Hindi Class at The Gandhi Centre Dr. Kanta Rani is an educationist and an enthusiastic teacher of Hindi. She has a Masters in Hindi, PhD in education and over 25 years of teaching experience. She comes with rich experience in promoting Hindi to non-hindi speakers having taught Hindi in ICC Suriname and written 3 textbooks and 1 conversation book on Hindi. Hindi is one of the official languages of India and is a descendant of the ancient Indian language Sanskrit. It is widely used in both India and Suriname. The Gandhi Centre conducts regular classes for different levels offering a full linguistic immersion.
TABLAA Tabla at The Gandhi Centre is taught by internationally acclaimed Heiko Dijker, who received years of traditional training from grandmaster Faiyaz Khan in India. The International Yoga Day was celebrated in the Netherlands on Sunday, June 17 at the prestigious Museumplein, Amsterdam. Organized at the initiative of the Embassy of India, the event witnessed a large gathering of people who came to participate in the whole day wellness festival. The event was inaugurated by the Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management, Ms. Cora van Nieuwenhuizen; spiritual guru His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar; and Mr.Venu Rajamony, Ambassador of India to the Netherlands with the traditional lighting of the lamp. Yoga demonstrations were interspersed with cultural programs of dance and music throughout the day. Food trucks providing vegetarian and vegan food and non-alcoholic beverages catered to the visitors. The grand finale in the evening was The Soul Shanti Concert featuring Indian violin maestro Dr. L. Subramaniam and Bollywood playback singer Kavita Krishnamurthy.
