ADDISON CARROLLTON AREA 15200 MIDWAY RD 13 ADDISON AIRPORT Addison Airport is a public airport in Addison, in Dallas County, Texas. Located just nine miles north of Downtown Dallas, this airport is a convenient option for North Texans in need of regional air travel. The airport opened in 1954 and was purchased by the town of Addison in 1976. The Addison Airport Toll Tunnel was completed in 1999 to allow east-west traffic to cross the airport under the runway. Addison Airport covers 368 acres with one 7,202-by-100-foot concrete runway. In 2006 the airport had 133,557 aircraft operations, average 365 per day and 774 aircraft were then based at the airport. Three fixed-base operators are on the field, Atlantic Aviation, Landmark Aviation, and Million Air. Charter services are available from a variety of companies, with Business Jet Solutions and Bombardier FlexJet having large operations at the field. The airport is the headquarters of Ameristar Air Cargo, GTA Air, and Martinaire, and also has scheduled freight flights from AirNet, Flight Express, and Flight Development. The airport is a training hub, with primary to advanced flight instruction available from American Flyers, ATP, Monarch Air, PlaneSmart! and Lone Star Flyers. Also, the Addison Airport is home to the Cavanaugh Flight Museum, a popular tourist destination in Addison, which offers formal and self-guided tours of their aircraft, armor and vehicle collections. LIFESTYLE Because of Addison's overwhelmingly commercial atmosphere, residents of Addison enjoy a unique lifestyle not common in other suburbs. In 2005, the town of Addison introduced a wireless Internet network covering most of the town. Though use costs a nominal fee, the network works to drive businesses and serves its residents. Residents and visitors can enjoy many Addison attractions. There are special events in Addison 29 weekends of the year. The WaterTower Theatre produces plays and musicals and hosts the annual Out of the Loop Festival. The Cavanaugh Flight Museum houses a collection of aircraft since World War I. Addison Circle, built in the early 2000s, is a venue for several seasonal outdoor events, such as the University of North Texas' North Texas Jazz Fest, "Addison Artfest," Oktoberfest, and the food exposition "Taste of Addison". The Addison Improv Comedy Club and Restaurant brings in some of the most acclaimed comedic talent in the region. Addison is noted for being home to the original locations of both Texas de Brazil and Fogo de Chão, two Brazilian Churrascaria franchises that are both in the midst of rapid national expansion. Addison hosts one of the largest 4th of July fireworks shows, called Kaboom Town. Addison has one of the most unique town centers in the country. Addison Circle is an urban plaza that features 2,020 multifamily units, 407 townhome/condo units, 550,000 square feet of office space and 75,000 square feet of retail space.
ADDISON CARROLLTON AREA 15200 MIDWAY RD 14 RETAIL AND RESTAURANTS Addison boasts a wide array of premier retail and restaurant destinations such as Village on the way and Addison Walk. Located in North Dallas epicenter along Belt Line Road and the Dallas North Tollway, Village on the way (VOP) has been an important part of the retail and restaurant landscape in North Dallas since 1981. And now, taking its cue from the vibrant spirit of Addison and Dallas, VOP is undergoing a dynamic transformation into a first class retail, entertainment and dining district, heralding Whole Foods and AMC Theatres as its anchors along with numerous other best- in -class retailers. With 381,000 square feet on over 25 acres, Village On The way has been a go-to center from its inception, catering to the largest suburban business concentration in DFW, with over 187,000 professionals coming to work in the immediate market every day. Village On The way is providing a dynamic retail community and true sense of place for nearby residents, office workers, and visitors. With its lush tree-lined streets, fountains, and numerous patio dining options, VOP is a haven from a frantic work day, a shopping spree with friends, or the place to spend the perfect evening celebrating life with special people. Addison Walk is situated at the gateway to Addison and offers excellent visibility and accessibility to everyone seeking to shop or eat in the Addison trade area. The recent renovation of Addison Walk has brought this property to the next level. The trendy face lift which included new facades, sidewalks, landscaping and signage served as a catalyst for re-tenanting this landmark site. Addison Walk s conventional layout and pedestrian friendly design has enabled it to not only effectively service the heavy daytime population, but also helped to gear the center towards the younger and hip Addison nightlife and clientele. Densely populated, affluent, residential communities are within walking distance of the shopping center. SCHOOLS The Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District covers most of the cities of Carrollton and Farmers Branch and parts of Addison, Coppell, Dallas, and Irving (including Valley Ranch and the Northern part of Las Colinas). C-FB ISD has twenty-five elementary schools, six middle schools, four high schools, and four education centers. On April 16, 2012, the school district began the process of Limited Open Enrollment, allowing students living outside the boundaries of the school district to apply to attend the district. In 2010 and 2011, the school district was rated "recognized" by the Texas Education Agency. There are also a number of high quality Dallas ISD schools in the immediate area for the areas of Carrollton and Addison not incorporated into C-FB ISD.
