The Miss Tecumseh Pageant is one of the oldest and most inviting events at the festival, attracting young women ages 16 to 23 from across the region as they vie for the prestigious title of Miss Tecumseh. These women put on an elegant and sophisticated show which is the highlight of the Corn Festival Thursday night kick-off. Applications will be accepted at the Parks and Recreation Department, located at 12021 McNorton Street, Tecumseh. The Pageant will accept a total of twenty (20) applications. Should there be additional entries/applications received, interviews will be conducted to select the top twenty (20) contestants. An entry fee of fifty dollars ($50.00) is payable with the application submission which will be used to offset the costs of the dress for the opening dance, name sash and other pageant items. In the event that an interview process is required to select the top twenty (20) contestants, unsuccessful applicants will receive a full refund of their entry fee. Thereafter, accepted applicants will receive a welcome email message and pageant rehearsal details from the Pageant Director. All applicants are asked to check their emails on a regular basis to ensure receipt of all messages sent by the Pageant Director. Upon acceptance, each delegate is required to participate in approximately twenty (20) mandatory rehearsals and gatherings and to volunteer for charitable events during the months of July and August. The successful candidates; Miss Tecumseh, 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd runners up along with Miss Interview, Miss Goodwill, Miss Congeniality, Miss Talent and Miss Photogenic will be ambassadors representing the Town of Tecumseh for the remainder of the festival weekend and throughout the entire year. Miss Tecumseh is required to participate in various events throughout the year, including the Terry Fox Run, Christmas in Tecumseh, Victoria Day Celebration, and the 2015 Corn Festival events. Scheduled events are coordinated and approved by the Parks and Recreation Department and/or the Corn Festival Pageant Director, and a representative will contact Miss Tecumseh with the required dates. The Miss Tecumseh Pageant, like all of the events at the Tecumseh Corn Festival, is a family oriented event. Come have fun, make new friends and be part of this great community! Miss Tecumseh Rules and Regulations 1. Entrant agrees to abide by all rules of the Miss Tecumseh Pageant competition(s) now in effect or announced hereafter. 2. Entrant agrees that the time, manner and method of judging the competition shall be solely within the discretion of the Miss Tecumseh Pageant Director. The decision of the judges will be final. 3. Entrant agrees that if she is the winner of the Miss Tecumseh Pageant, she will not sign a management contract and will not give any judging or verbal endorsement of any mercantile commodity or commercial organization, nor will she permit her photographs to be used in connection with any commodity or service without the prior consent of the Miss Tecumseh Pageant. 4. Entrant must never have given birth to a child nor be married or divorced. 5. Entrant must have reached her sixteenth (16) birthday by the day of the pageant and be no older than twenty-three (23) on the day of the pageant. If asked, entrant must provide a copy of her birth certificate with her application, as proof of age. 6. Entrant agrees to be available during the year of her reign to perform duties and make appearances, if chosen as Miss Tecumseh. If Miss Tecumseh misses more than three (3) scheduled appearances, her title shall be passed to the First Runner Up. 7. Entrant's submitted photographs may be used to judge the Miss Photogenic competition to determine the winner of the award. Contestants authorize full consent to the Miss Tecumseh Pageant for use of the photographs submitted for the purpose of promoting the pageant. If photographs submitted are taken by professional photographers, the contestant must provide the pageant with written permission from the photographer, for use of the photographs. Photos will not be returned. 8. The Miss Tecumseh pageant committee will not be held responsible for personal injury or damages or loss of personal belongings incurred to (at) any of the Miss Tecumseh facilities, by contestant(s) (pageant venue, or Corn Festival). Damages, losses and consequences thereof will be the responsibility of the contestant(s). 9. All contestants must adhere to the strict guidance of assigned chaperones throughout the four-day duration of the 2015 Tecumseh Corn Festival, being Thursday, August 27, 2015 to August 30, 2015. 10. The contestant represents that they have not and will not engage in any activities which, if disclosed to the public, would bring, or tend to bring to themselves, the local director, the Miss Tecumseh Pageant, the Town of Tecumseh or any of their subsidiaries, affiliated or related companies into disrepute, ridicule or contempt. Such activities shall not be limited to, but shall include any type of use of illegal drugs, any other illegal behavior or activity, professional or amateur nude or semi-nude dancing or modeling in any sexually oriented business or club, any type of nude or semi-nude photographs or video tapes, prostitution, any felony conviction, probation or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude. The contestant understands and agrees that the Miss Tecumseh Pageant shall determine all issues as to eligibility and the contestant further agrees to abide by that determination both as to herself and other applicants. By signing below, the applicant and/or her parent or guardian certify that they have read and understand the rules and regulations as set forth in Items 1 thru 10 and that the applicant meets the requirements and will comply with the rules and regulations stated. Any untrue statement or failure to comply may result in the applicant's disqualification and forfeiture of prizes. The contestant agrees to pay the entry fee of fifty ($50.00) upon acceptance and that she understands the entry fee will be used for the purchase of an opening ceremony gown, name sash and other pageant items.
