DAY 1 - Saturday Arrival and check-in at Hotel Torre Santa Flora in Subbiano, a province of Arezzo. 6:30 PM Wine Reception 8:00 PM Welcome Dinner at our hotel If you are flying into Rome, you can take a train from the airport to Rome Termini, then take any train that stops in Arezzo. Approximate 2-hour train ride from Rome to Arezzo. Taxi service is readily available at main entrance of train station in Arezzo. The hotel is 6 miles from the station. Our hotel was originally built by the Benedictines as a place of rest for pilgrims and their animals. 2
DAY 2 - Sunday 10:00 AM Orientation 11:00 AM Mass & Teaching 1:00 PM Lunch at hotel 3:00 PM Depart for Arezzo: Tour of city & antique fair 7:30 PM Dinner at Locando di San Pier Piccolo in Arezzo 10:30 PM Depart for our hotel On our tour of the city of Arezzo, we will attend the antique fair which is the largest antique fair in all of Europe and is held the first weekend of every month. Locando di San Pier Piccolo was originally built as a university then became a monastery and is now a hotel and restaurant. 3
DAY 3 - Monday 7:00 to 8:30 AM Breakfast 8:30 AM Depart for Orvieto 11:30 AM Mass & Teaching at Chapel of the Sacred Corporal 2:00 PM Lunch at La Badia 5:00 PM Depart for our hotel Evening Wine reception & lite supper at our hotel The Chapel of the Sacred Corporal in the Orvieto Cathedral holds the famous blood stained cloth that confirmed the physical presence of Christ in the consecrated host. The miracle occurred in 1263. La Badia is in the oldest monastery that we will visit. Founded in the 7 th century, now a beautiful hotel and restaurant and one of Msgr. Don s favorite places. The architecture is marvelous. 4
DAY 4 - Tuesday 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM Meditation & Teaching 1:00 PM Lunch at our hotel 3:00 PM Depart hotel for tour of Castello dei Conti Guidi 4:30 PM Depart for our hotel 6:30 PM Wine reception 8:00 PM Depart for dinner at Taverna Dei Briganti 10:30 PM Depart for our hotel Castello dei Conti Guidi at Poppi is known as one of the best preserved medieval castles in Italy, it has strong ties to the poet Dante and contains rare original copies of his work. Taverna dei Briganti is a delightful restaurant owned by a family that is as unforgettable as the food they serve. Just 3 minutes from our hotel. 5
DAY 5 - Wednesday 7:00 to 8:00 AM Breakfast 8:30 AM Depart for Assisi 11:00 AM Mass & Teaching at the Church of St. Paul LUNCH ON YOUR OWN & Touring of Basilicas 3:00 PM Meet at Basilica of St. Francis for departure 3:30 PM Depart Assisi for tour of Santa Maria di Angeli 5:00 PM Depart for our hotel Evening Dinner at our hotel We will celebrate mass in the church of St. Paul which is not open to the public. Many believe this is the church where Francis and his family worshipped. Tour the Basilica of Saint Francis, the Basilica of Saint Claire, and the Church of San Damiano. 6
DAY 6 - Thursday 9:30 to 11:30 AM Meditation & Teaching 1:00 PM Lunch at our hotel FREE AFTERNOON 5:00 PM Depart for Msgr. Don s farmhouse for cocktails & entertainment 7:30 PM Depart for our hotel 8:00 PM Dinner at our hotel Msgr. Don s farm house is located just 10 minutes from our hotel, in the tiny village of Vogognano. The farmhouse was built in 1865 and has become an oasis for Msgr. Don for 29 years. We will be entertained by Priscilla Coblentz and a dear friend of Msgr. Don s, George Hayes, a star of musical theater in London. 7
DAY 7 - Friday 9:30 to AM Depart for La Verna 11:00 AM Mass at the Chapel of San Lorenzo & Anointing at the Chapel of the Stigmata 1:00 PM Lunch at monastery followed by tours 4:00 PM Depart for our hotel 6:30 PM Wine Reception 8:00 PM Closing Dinner at our hotel La Verna is considered by many as the most sacred of the Franciscan pilgrimage sites. The chapel is built on the site where Saint Francis received the stigmata in 1224. Procession from mass to the Chapel of the Stigmata to receive the anointing of the peace of Saint Francis. 8
