HOBART 2018 The 2018 SB20 World Championship has been awarded to Hobart, to be jointly hosted by the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania and the Derwent Sailing Squadron. These neighbouring clubs at the foot of Mt Wellington on the banks of the Derwent River have a combined history of 250+ years and a combined membership of approximately 4000. WHERE IS HOBART? Hobart is the capital city of Australia s island state of Tasmania. Tasmania is 1 hour flight from Melbourne, and is approximately the same land size as Ireland. Hobart has a temperate climate, with an average temperature in January of 22ºC / 72ºF. Tasmanian people have a great love of boating, and Tasmania has the highest boat ownership per capita in Australia.
