At Kilimanjaro Airport, you will be welcomed by the friendly safari team who will transfer you to Arusha. Overnight at Arusha Serena Hotel, Resort & Spa (standard room) with breakfast included. DAY 2: Arusha / Lake Manyara National Park Distance to park: 130 km Estimate driving time to park: 3 hours We do an en-route stop after breakfast at a supermarket in Arusha for last minute shopping (buy drinks to enjoy in your vehicles while on safari). As you approach Lake Manyara National Park, the Rift Valley escarpment looms on the eastern horizon forming an impressive backdrop to the lake. Travel through the local town of Mto Wa Mbu (Maasai for Mosquito Village the only place in Tanzania which represents all of its tribes 120 ethnic groups) to Lake Manyara National Park followed by an afternoon game drives in the park. The mosaic of the Park's different
habitats is easily seen: the rift wall, the ground water forest, acacia woodlands, open grassland, the lakeshore, swamp and the lake itself. DAY 3: Lake Manyara National Park / Serengeti National Park Distance between parks: 205 km Estimate driving time between parks: 5 hours After breakfast drive from Lake Manyara to the Serengeti National Park with a stop at the Ngorongoro Crater viewpoint for a glimpse of what waits for you closer to the end of the trip. En-route to the Serengeti, you can opt to visit a Masaai Village near Ngorongoro Crater. (The Masaai charge US$30 per person. The proceeds are used to buy water and other necessities for the tribe that you will visit. This entrance fee to the village will be for your account and is not included in your package). After bidding the Maasai farewell, you ll visit Olduvai Gorge, a famous archaeological site. The gorge lies on the site of an ancient lake, covered by thick layers of volcanic ash, which carefully preserved the world's earliest records of mankind and which was unearthed by the devoted Leakey family. The museum displays some of their fascinating discoveries and remarkable artefacts. Drive to the Serengeti Park gate where you will enjoy a picnic lunch before entering the endless plains of the Serengeti. Afternoon game drive en-route to the lodge. DAY 4: Serengeti National Park Optional: Serengeti Balloon Safari Make a reservation for the early morning balloon safari (cost will be for your account and is not included in your package) or enjoy morning and afternoon game drives (or a full day game drive). The Serengeti will leave you with images of vastness and breathtaking beauty. Afternoon drive to Ngorongoro Crater to overnight on the crater rim. DAY 6: Ngorongoro Crater After breakfast, descend 600 m into the magnificent Ngorongoro crater for game drives. Witness an unforgettable spectacle of African wildlife - a world teeming with animals. The park sustains a vast variety of animals, including the black rhino, with its year-round water supply and fodder. Another big drawcard to this picturesque park is its dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard. A drive through the haunting forest will allow you to feast your eyes on some of the most spectacular green vegetation you will ever see. Later in the afternoon, you will ascend to the crater rim and drive to Lake Manyara to stay overnight. DAY 7: Lake Manyara National Park / Kilimanjaro Airport Distance to airport: 185 km Enjoy breakfast at the lodge before your transfer to Arusha where we stop at the Cultural Heritage Centre (for shopping of Tanzania art, memorabilia s and Tanzanite s), and enjoy your picnic lunch.
