Kansas City, Missouri (direct, non-stop destination from RSW) Kansas City straddles the Missouri-Kansas state line, sometimes causing travelers to wonder which state they are in. Here are a few tips to help: If you are west of State Line Road, you are in Kansas. If you are east of it, you are in Missouri. Follow the Missouri River to the north, and if you are west of it, you are in Kansas. East of it, you re in Missouri. Kansas City is the largest city in the U.S. state of Missouri. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city had an estimated population of 481,420 in 2016 making it the 37th largest city by population in the United States. Kansas City was founded in the 1830s as a Missouri River port at its confluence with the Kansas River coming in from the west. On June 1, 1850 the town of Kansas was incorporated; shortly after came the establishment of the Kansas Territory. Confusion between the two ensued and the name Kansas City was assigned to distinguish them soon after. Sitting on Missouri's western border, with Downtown near the confluence of the Kansas and Missouri rivers, the modern city encompasses some 319.03 square miles (826.3 km2), making it the 23rd largest city by total area in the United States. Most of the city lies within Jackson County, but portions spill into Clay, Cass, and Platte counties. Major suburbs include the Missouri cities of Independence and Lee's Summit and the Kansas cities of Overland Park, Olathe, and Kansas City. The city is composed of several neighborhoods, including the River Market District in the north, the 18th and Vine District in the east, and the Country Club Plaza in the south. Kansas City is known for its long tradition of jazz music and culture, it's also known for its cuisine (including its distinctive style of barbecue) and its craft breweries. Along every boulevard and around every corner, there s something to do that s unique to Kansas City. With a thriving creative arts scene, eclectic mix of entertainment and die-hard sports. It s safe to say there s something for everyone. Find your way in Kansas City by doing it all or, at least trying to. Image(s) Creative Commons, Wikimedia : Public Domain

RSW Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) AECOM Technical Services, Inc. 2/11/2013 Completion Date: 10/31/2018 (Design Only) This project provides for design services, environmental permitting and mitigation for a new Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) and Terminal Radar Approach Control Facility (TRACON) located midfield between existing runway and the future parallel runway. The initial test pile vibration report has been submitted for revision. Discussions regarding the report results with the structural expert at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is underway. A working group meeting is scheduled for the end of May. The recorded blast vibrations were analyzed using the 3D finite element model of the tower. Discussions are underway to confirm if the three standards used in the analysis from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) will meet the FAA s needs, and if any structural redesign is needed. Work continues to complete the response to comments from the Lee County Department of Community Development Order (DO) application. The environmental team begins preparation for another bid package to obtain additional panther habitat units (PHU s) for this project. $62,332,935.00 $21,450,134.00 $40,882,801.00 $10,725,067.00 $10,725,067.00 Development Division - June 2018 RSW Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) 1

RSW Rehabilitation of Airside Pavements CM/GC: Kimley-Horn & Associates Owen-Ames-Kimball, Co. 4/5/2017 Completion Date: 6/30/2019 (Design Only) RSW has a network of airside pavement infrastructure (taxiways and aircraft parking aprons) that has been constructed at various times from as early as 1979 (during the original RSW construction) through 2005 (as part of the Midfield Terminal construction). Maintaining these pavement areas is critical to the safe continued operation of aircraft at RSW. This project will evaluate all pavement and recommend rehabilitation measures to correct existing pavement distresses and extend the useful life of airport infrastructure. The surveying of the different pavement areas has started and will continue until July 2018. The geotechnical and geophysical testing will begin late May and will continue until August 2018. RSW Rehabilitation of Roads CM/GC: Johnson Engineering, Inc. Owen-Ames-Kimball, Co. 10/27/2016 Completion Date: 2/28/2020 (Design Only) The Southwest Florida International Airport has a network of public, non-public, landside and airside roadways that serve the vehicular transportation needs of its patrons, employees, and other customers. The landside roadway infrastructure has been constructed at various times from 1979 through 2005. This project will plan for the necessary rehabilitative measures to correct existing pavement distresses in order to maintain the level of service needed. The design consultant has completed all the surveying of landside roads and will complete design of airside roads by the end of May 2018. The design for landside roads has begun with the 30% deadline anticipated for August 2018. RSW Skyplex Boulevard CM/GC: David Douglas Associates, Inc. Wright Construction 4/11/2012 Completion Date: 3/31/2020 (Design Only) This project will include permitting and environmental approval, roadway, drainage, utility, landscaping, signage, marking and lighting design for Skyplex Boulevard between Daniels Parkway and Chamberlin Parkway. Bids were received on May 11, 2018. The construction and design consultants are reviewing bids and preparing documents needed for the construction approval by Airports Special Management Committee (ASMC) and the Board in June 2018. RSW Terminal Building Charging Stations CM/GC: Atkins North America, Inc. Owen-Ames-Kimball, Co. 5/25/2017 Completion Date: 12/31/2018 In order to better serve our passengers, this project looks at installing in-seat charging stations for all the seats in the secured areas. The in-seat power stations will be installed in the concourses at each gate to accommodate passengers that are traveling through RSW with laptop, smartphone and other personal electronic devices. These in-seat power stations can accommodate power cords and USB cables for the passenger s convenience. Each unit allows passengers comfortable seating while their electronics are charging before their flight. The Joint Board approved the construction award on May 3, 2018. Notice-to-Proceed (NTP) for the design and construction consultants is anticipated to be issued by the end of May 2018. A kick-off meeting is scheduled for May 23, 2018. RSW Terminal Building Expansion CM/GC: Atkins North America, Inc. Manhattan Construction (Florida), Inc. 3/9/2017 Completion Date: 6/30/2020 (Design Only) The increase in passenger volume within limited corridor spaces during peak hour operations has negatively impacted the terminal s functionality. There are conflicting passenger flow patterns, insufficient space to provide additional screening for passengers within the limits of the security screening checkpoint areas, insufficient length of queuing, and the building systems are challenged to support peak hour passenger volume. The Lee County Port Authority is also seeking to increase concession amenities for the general public. The team continues with bi-weekly meetings and are advancing towards the completion of the pre-conceptual phase in June 2018. Coordination has started with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in regards to their office space and checkpoint space requirements. RSW Ticket Counter and Gate Podium Modernization CM/GC: Schenkel and Shultz Manhattan Construction (Florida), Inc. 3/9/2017 Completion Date: 3/30/2019 (Design Only) Modernization of various passenger processing areas at RSW; such as check-in ticket counters, including back wall signage and integral baggage scales, gate podiums at the respective airline boarding areas of the concourses, customs inspection stations for Federal Inspection Services (FIS), airline curbside check-in counters and customer service counter at the car rental customer service building shall be analyzed and updated to accommodate more automated processes based on new technology. In addition, the creation of a standardized look shall be implemented while respecting individual airline and rental car branding. The design consultant continues coordination efforts with airlines for the development of schematic design documents. The 30 percent design documents are due by July 2018.
