Marston Boathouse ***This summer, in an effort to continually improve the facilities here at Brown Crew, the pier, ramp and float portions of the dock that give us to access the water directly from Marston Boathouse are being replaced. This project will allow us to launch more boats at a time and greatly improve the utility of the boathouse. Unfortunately, due to unanticipated delays, the project will impact the Providence Rowing Camp this summer, and we will not be able to launch the boats from Marston Boathouse. While all other programming will take place at Marston, we have arranged for the launching and retrieval of the boats to happen at the Narragansett Boat Club boathouse, which is just up the river. This does mean we will have to get the campers to and from NBC for every session. Fortunately there is a bike path that connects the two, and at a light jog it takes about 13 minutes to get to the boathouse on foot, or 20 minutes walking. Our plan is to do two back-to-back sessions at NBC with a 1.5-2 hour break in between in the park across the street, so that we don't have to make the trip 4 times in one day. We intend to use this transition time as for warming up as well as time spent with the counselors, answering questions about what its like to be a college student athlete!***

WHAT TO BRING Several white/light t-shirts One long-sleeve shirt Sunblock is a MUST! Athletic shoes and socks Dock sandals Sunglasses Bathing suit (just in case) Hat and/or visor Water bottle Windbreaker and/or splash jacket Rowing trou Personal hygiene items as needed Prescription medication-albuterol, epipen, etc. (If needed) Several comfortable workout, closer-fitting shirts WHAT TO LEAVE X Campers stay at the Hilton Garden and will not need extra bedding X Computer - It s only 5 days to go without Facebook. Enjoy face-to-face time! X Cell phone should not come to practice; if you have it, leave it in the hotel! X Anything else valuable that you don t need for camp, leave behind! Enjoy the atmosphere and leave home at home. VERY IMPORTANT: Rowing clothing should fit close to the body. Anything loose, including running shorts and low-hanging shirts WILL get stuck in rowing boat tracks. This not only causes disruptions but also leads to equipment damage and potential injury, due to the nature of the sport. NO BASKETBALL-STYLE SHORTS WILL BE ALLOWED DURING ROWING SPECIFIC WORKOUTS! This includes mesh athletic shorts and other loosefitting gear. Rowers wear spandex trou shorts or unisuits for a reason! If you don t have a pair, it would be a great investment since they will be required at the college level. If you are unsure where to find a pair economically, email us. Coxswains should wear athletic gear that won t scratch the boat (i.e. no rivets).
