WHEN TO VISIT In order for you to plan the perfect trip, you must be aware of the changing conditions. At Crossing Creek we offer a large variety of activities so whether you want to be snowed in and huddled around a fire or spend your day hiking and fly fishing, finding the right season for your event is an important task. No matter what time of year, Crossing Creek has activities for you and your party to enjoy. Winter Spring Summer Foliage Late Fall January - March The early months of the year are full of snow. Come out and snowshoe across the ridge, or visit one of the Ski Resorts in the area. Powderhorn Ski Resort is only just a short drive up the troad through the Grand Mesa Natioanal Forest. April - May Witness the snow begin to melt the area come to life. While there may still be some snow in areas, the green grass is beginning to push through, and the wildlife becomes much more active. June - August September - October November - December The greenest months of the year. The sun, shining during the day, pushes the temperature up into the 80 s and drops back to jacket weather at nignt. These months are best for biking, hiking and fishing. Come out to see the aspens change from a vibrant green to the iconic oranges, reds, and yellows. These are also the prime stargazing months where you can witness the Milky Way light up the sky. Fresh powder will begin to fall during the late fall months. The Ski Resorts open in Mid-October.
