Depending upon the season, you may be able to view the birds nesting and feeding routines, and their spectacular diving technique as they hunt for fish. Leaving Muriwai via rural farming districts, you will come to Haumoana Farm-a 200-acre holding situated on the South Kaipara Peninsula. You will be invited to the house for morning tea. The return drive to Auckland is through the farming areas of Waitoki and Dairy Flat. This tour is only available to guests returning to the ship.

Devonport & the North Shore Approximately 3½ hours $$ This excursion takes you from central Auckland to the beautiful suburb ofdevonport, with unsurpassed views of the city and its iconic landmarks. See the Mk VII 8-inch disappearing gun and take in the incredible panoramic vistas: 360-degree views over the North Peninsula, Devonport and Auckland. Devonport village itself feels like a step back in time. One of the oldest settlements in New Zealand, this quaint suburb on the North Peninsula is noted for its colonial wooden architecture. At the conclusion of the tour, guests who wish to stay in Devonport to shop or explore on their own are welcome to do so, but must return to the ship on their own. Your guide will provide you with ferry tickets to be used at your leisure when you wish to return to the ship. This tour departs the ship by coach and returns to Auckland by ferry.

Return to downtown Auckland by ferry. Minimum age is 8 years. Minimum weight is 67 lbs; maximum weight is 275 lbs.

Read all 3 reviews Write a review Experience Auckland s wild and rugged West Coast. Board a motor coach and travel to the Waitakere Ranges, approximately 11 miles northwest of Auckland. Stop at the Arataki Centre perched high in the Waitakere Ranges, where the sweeping decks offer breathtaking panoramic views from the Tasman Sea to the Pacific Ocean. Absorb the local history and admire the magnificent traditional Maori carvings that stand guard there. Heading further west, you ll encounter the power of the wild and rugged West Coast. Feel the soft, black sand beneath your feet as you stroll along one of the most awe-inspiring beaches anywhere. With your knowledgeable guide, continue to the lush rain forest, where you will hear native birdsong as you walk the easy 40-minute, ¾-mile guided bush tracks. Your constant companions are picturesque streams and giant tree ferns. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair.

Read all 2 reviews Write a review Travel through the city's central business district and downtown commercial center before traveling along the southern motorway past the southern suburbs and over the Bombay Hills. Descend into the Waikato River Valley and follow the course of the river through the fertile farmlands of the region to the coal-mining town of Huntly. Continue south past Taupiri (a mountain that is sacred to the Maori people) to the town of Ngaruawahia seat of the Maori King. At Waitomo, you will venture underground for a guided walk through the worldfamous Waitomo Glow-Worm Cave, passing striking limestone formations that include the famous Organ and the lofty chamber called the Cathedral. You will come to a jetty on a lake deep underground, and step into a nonmotorized longboat for perhaps the most intriguing part of your adventure a ride in complete silence on an underground river. Your destination is a cavern spangled with the radiant blue/green bioluminescent lights of millions of tiny glow-worms. The worms are very sensitive to sound, and will extinguish their lights if you speak. This eerie, captivating experience is one you will remember forever.

Leaving the caves, you ll travel to Kio Kio, where Crosshills is located. This is the lovely home of Fraser and Debbie Robertson, whoseenglish-designed garden is a delight to visit. Walkways lure you to explore each area further. A delicious home-cooked lunch is served at Crosshills. As parts of the caves at Waitomo are small and narrow, this tour is not suitable for guests who are claustrophobic. There are approximately 200 steps located intermittently throughout the cave. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Travel time to Waitomo is approximately three hours each way. Travel by coach through Oneroa Village, past the many picturesque bays and beaches on the northern coast and through the main residential and holiday home areas. Beautiful views of the coastline and rolling inland pastures accompany you during this drive toonetangi Beach. This sweeping strand is regarded as one of the finest in New Zealand, where the islands annual "horse" race is held. Head to Rangihoua where you will enjoy a delicious morning tea, before heading to two local wineries. With hot, dry summers and stony soils, Waiheke is a perfect growing ground for a variety of grapes. Boutique wineries produce high quality wines, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and, more recently, Chardonnay. The gorgeous wine estates you will visit are true gems, and best of all, you will have the opportunity to taste the wines that are produced here.

You will return by ferry to Auckland and the ship. Minimum age is 18 years. To participate in the wine tasting, persons under the age of 21 must be accompanied by an adult age 21 or over.
