Detailed Itinerary Day 1- Arrive in North Cyprus, settle in the hotel Arrive Cyprus, transfer to the Riviera Beach Bungalows. If you arrive early, discover the beautiful town of Kyrenia. The old harbour is picturesque and you can take time to visit the castle and the old part of town behind the harbour with its narrow streets and coffee shops. Day 2- Explore more of Kyrenia and visit Bellapais This is a day for exploring. You can visit the charming village of Bellapais and if you didn t have a chance to visit Kyrenia on day 1, this is the time to do it. Or if you fancy castles, you can opt for a visit to the crusader s castle of St Hilarion, which is said to have inspired Walt Disney to create the magic castle in Disneyland. Day 3 - Visit Nicosia, the last divided capital of Europe Visit Nicosia town. Here you have the opportunity to see the north of the city, with its main attractions: Buyuk Han, Selimiye Mosque, the hammam, small Han and the Bedesten. You can also cross the border on foot and see the south side of the city. Don t forget your passport. Day 4- Visit Kantara and / or Antiphonitis church in Esentepe Early start on this day. You will drive east towards Karpaz on the coastal road but there will be more to see and visit on the way. Recommended to visit Kantara castle. Or you can opt to see Antiphonitis church tucked away in the forest above the village of Esentepe. From there make your way along the coast to Glaro Gardens. Day 5- Spend the day on the beach Spend the morning relaxing on the beach (or walking in the winter). Golden Sands Beach is the most beautiful beach on the island. In the evening, a pre-arranged Cypriot cooking lesson by the house cooks (optional). Get as much involved as you want in preparing meze dishes or baklava!! Enjoy eating them afterwards as they come fresh out of the oven Day 6 Drive from Karpaz to Bogaz to Famagusta Early start driving towards Famagusta via Bogaz with its lovely harbour. From Bogaz you can go and visit the ruins of ancient Salamis with its theatre, Roman villa, basilicas. Salamis used to be one of the 10 city kingdoms of Cyprus. Or you can opt to visit Barnabas Monastery. Drive to Betul Guesthouse where you will spend the last two nights of your holiday. Day 7 Explore Famagusta old town on a four seater bike Visit Famagusta town with its ruins and monuments. You can easily spend a day there roaming through history. Getting there By car and ferry By air Driving routes can be accessed via the following website: www.via.michelin.com. You drive to the south of Turkey and take a ferry from Mersin to Kyrenia. The nearest International airport is Ercan (flying via Turkey). Alternatively you can fly directly to Larnaca, but the transfer cost to your hotel becomes more expensiveif you fly via the south airport(s). Summers are hot and dry and last from June to September. Winters are changeable with cold and warmer weather alternating. Autumn in October/November and spring in April/May are short and the transition between winter and summer is rapid. Rain falls mainlyin winter and outside these months precipitation israre therefore flora is much richer in flowers and lush looking in March/April than in September/October but sea temperature is warmer in autumn.
