Mandate of FP-EG (Flood Protection Expert Group) Flood Protection Expert Group (FP-EG) is responsible mainly to deal with the issue of implemeting the the EU Flood Directive in the Danube River basin district and create the Flood Risk Management Plan (FRMP) with comprehensive list of measures and indicative list of proposed project ideas Reporting of floods (e.g. 2013 Danube, 2014 Sava) Report on preliminary flood risk assessment and flood hazard/risk maps, visualisation of information, update of hydrometeorological summary document Recently added: Contact with EUSDR PA5, agenda point is open for solid conversation
Flood Risk Management Plan for the Danube River Basin District (ongoing activity) ICPDR has a mandate to design flood risk management policies and propose respective measures and is responsible for preparation of the Flood risk management plan for the DRBD (level A) FP-EG concluded that only the strategic level measures supported by best examples shall be presented in DFRMP Strategic level measures = basic prioritization criterion; Danube basin-wide project focus Solidarity principle = one should not pass on water management problems in one region to another Key priority level A = measures with downstream effect (flood & natural water retention, warning systems, reduction of risk from contaminated sites in floodplain areas);
FP-EG project ideas (1) ICPDR ongoing project preparation Danube Sediment project Danube Floodplain project, follow-up for Danube FLOODRISK FP-EG project ideas "DANICE" - DANube river basin ICE conveyance investigation and icy flood management "LAREDAR" - Hazard and risk mapping, risk management planning of the LAkes and REservoirs in the DAnube River basin Partnership for a living Danube : The Coca-Cola Company (TCCC) and WWF are working in a seven year partnership to restore vital wetlands and floodplains along the River Danube and its tributaries. The project aims to restore 53 km² of wetland habitat in the Danube region by 2020. The ICPDR is observer in the Steering Group of the partnership.
FP-EG project ideas (2) FP-EG project moduls "FORTRED" - FORest TRaining in the Danube floodplain to be included in Danube Floodplain project MERGBORD" - MERGing hazard maps at national BORder areas in the Danube basin + "APROD-CL" - Analysing flood discharge PROpagation for the whole Danube river and creation of Coherent Longitudial profile for discrete events = topics should be conbined Other topics Analysis of catchment reaction on different precipitation scenarios in the upper Danube including identification of retention sites (AT/BY) Project of residual risk on Morava (AT/SK) All the ideas are subject of futher discussion in the upcoming meetings.
EUSDR project ideas Danube Region Operative Flood Management and Cooperation Programme document. For the 27th FP-EG meeting (17-18.03.2015.) ersion v8 was introduced in March, 2015.
