Move through security to your departure gate. You may wish to purchase food for your flight should time allow. 8:30am Depart SFO for Boston International Airport on United Flight #768. 5:05pm Arrive into Boston Arrive into Boston collect your luggage and then board the coach(es). Boston offers visitors an irresistible blend of past, present, and future. History and innovation combine to create a small-scale destination that's easy to explore yet always surprising. One of the oldest American cities, Boston is known around the world for high tech and hospitals, arts and music, and dozens of excellent colleges. With its fascinating attractions, excellent shopping, lovely scenery, and terrific restaurants, the Boston area is perfect for both a quick visit and a longer stay. Transfer and check-in to your hotel, the Hampton Inn Boston-Peabody. Check-in to your rooms / free time to settle in. Enjoy a Welcome Dinner as a group nearby the hotel. After dinner, return to the hotel.
DAY TWO: Thursday, June 14, 2018 BOSTON (B,D) Performance Following breakfast, load the coach(es) (with instruments and performance attire) and depart on a Boston Duck Tour! The fun begins as soon as you board your "DUCK", a W.W.II style amphibious landing vehicle. You'll cruise by all the places that make Boston the birthplace of freedom and a city of firsts, from the golden-domed State House to Bunker Hill and the TD Banknorth Garden, Boston Common and Copley Square to the Big Dig, Government Center to fashionable Newbury Street, Quincy Market to the Prudential Tower, and more. Afternoon Transfer to Downtown Crossing (a major outdoor shopping area) where you will have time for lunch on your own and to enjoy some shopping. Afterwards, load the coach(es) and transfer to a local venue, Memorial Hall in nearby Melrose, MA (approx. 25 minutes north of Boston). Upon arrival, setup in for the evening s concert and rehearse on stage. Dinner as a group nearby the venue Performance at Memorial Hall, home to the Melrose Symphony Orchestra, possibly in conjunction with a local ensemble (TBC or similar). Following the concert, pack up and return to the hotel.
DAY THREE: Friday, June 15, 2018 BOSTON (B,D) Performance Following breakfast, load the coach(es) (with instruments and performance attire) and transfer to downtown Boston. Meet your tour guides and enjoy a walking tour of the Boston Freedom Trail. The Freedom Trail takes the visitor to the major sights along the trail over the course of about 90 minutes and covers two and a half centuries of America's most significant past. Since the past and the present live alongside the Trail, its visitors have the opportunity to see the city as it truly is. Afternoon Transfer to Faneuil Hall where you will have time for lunch on your own. After lunch, set-up for performance. Outdoor Pops-Style PERFORMANCE at Faneuil Hall. After the performance, pack-up and load the coach(es) enjoy time to explore Faneuil Hall and Quincy Markets. Board the ferry for the short ride across Boston Harbor to Charleston. Enjoy a visit to the historic USS Constitution. Dinner as a group at a local restaurant in Boston (or Charleston). After dinner, return to the hotel.
DAY FOUR: Saturday, June 16, 2018 BOSTON (B,D) Clinic Following breakfast, transfer to Boston Symphony Hall. Enjoy a guided tour of the Boston Symphony Hall. Enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of America's premier concert hall where an experienced member of the Boston Symphony Association of Volunteers unfolds the history and traditions of the Boston Symphony Orchestra-its musicians, conductors, and supporters-as well as offer information about the Hall. Afternoon After the tour, setup for your workshop enjoy a Clinic with a member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra as part of the BSO Visiting Ensemble Master Class program (TBC) at Boston Symphony Hall. Transfer to the Harvard Square where you will have time for lunch on your own. After lunch, transfer to Harvard University enjoy a historical walking tour of the Harvard University campus (TBC). Afterwards, enjoy time to explore and shop at Harvard Square and Harvard University. Return to the Symphony Hall area. Dinner as a group nearby Symphony Hall. Following dinner, return to Symphony Hall and enjoy a performance by the Boston Pops (TBC tickets to the value of $50 per person and subject to season schedule). Following the concert, return to the hotel.
DAY FIVE: Sunday, June 17, 2018 BOSTON MONTREAL (B,D) Check-out of the hotel, load the coach(es), and begin your journey to Montreal, Canada (approx. 6-hour drive + stops) Afternoon Lunch on your own en route. Continue on to Montreal. French Catholics founded Montreal in 1642 at the confluence of the St. Lawrence River and the Ottawa River. Montreal is the largest French speaking community outside of France, though its sizable English speaking population gives the city a fascinating linguistic mix. Today, with its café culture and joie-de-vivre attitude, Montreal possesses a vibrancy and excitement unlike anywhere else in the world. Transfer/check-in to a local hotel, the Sandman Hotel Longueuil (TBC). Upon arrival you will meet your local Montreal Tour Manager. Dinner as a group in Montreal then return to the hotel. DAY SIX: Monday, June 18, 2018 MONTREAL (B,D) Performance Following breakfast, enjoy a guided walking tour of Vieux Montreal (Old Montreal) see sites such as the Hotel de Ville and Basilique Notre-Dame. Afternoon Lunch on own in central Montreal. Load the coach(es) and transfer to a local venue possibly Christ Church Cathedral (TBC). Arrive, setup and rehearse in this evening s venue. Dinner as a group at a nearby restaurant. Performance possibly at Christ Church Cathedral concert may be in conjunction with a local ensemble (TBC). Following the concert, pack up and board the coach(es) for a ride to the top of Mont Royal. The Mont Royal offers a breathtaking view of the city s night lights, structures, and the St. Lawrence River from the belvedere of Mont Royal Park. Return to the hotel.
DAY SEVEN: Tuesday, June 19, 2018 MONTREAL (B,D) Workshop After breakfast, board the coach(es) with your instruments and transfer to the McGill University Schulich School of Music. Enjoy a workshop with a member of the music faculty at the McGill University Schulich School of Music (TBC). Afternoon Transfer to the Underground City where you will have lunch on own and some free time to enjoy the shopping. The world's largest underground pedestrian network shelters Montrealers from both the scorching heat of summer and the frigid winter winds. More than 30 kilometers of passageways link the stations of Montreal's Metro and contain (at last count) 1,600 boutiques, 200 restaurants, 34 cinemas and 1,600 apartments. Later this afternoon, enjoy a visit to Montreal s Olympic Park including admission to the wonderful Biodôme. The delightful Biodôme houses replications of four ecosystems: a tropical rainforest, a Laurentian forest, the St. Lawrence marine system, and the Labrador Coast and subpolar regions. Visitors walk through each and hear the animals, smell the flora, and (except in the polar region, which is behind glass) feel the changes in temperature. Enjoy a Farewell Dinner as a group at a local restaurant featuring live Montreal jazz. Return to the hotel.
