It is one of the oldest cities in India, with periodic references in many Greek and Roman literatures. Thiruvananthapuram is on the west coast of India near the extreme south of the mainland. Referred to by Mahatma Gandhi as the evergreen city of India, it is characterised by its undulating terrain of low coastal hills and busy commercial alleys. LULU MALL CONCEPT The overall concept for Lulu Mall and Hotel, Thiruvananthapuram envisages a retail and entertainment destination, complete with a hotel which will attract visitors to the area, as well as the local population. Site sparky s f&b cinema The attractive and rich naturalistic heritage which characterises the Thiruvananthapuram area was the starting point in the design process for this new shopping destination. The rolling hills of the area are reflected in the large façade of the building, which stretches for hundreds of metres and playfully mimics its environment. anchor shops dept. store hypermarket From the outside, the main entrance showcases super-graphics and transparent glass which will light up at night, moving and reacting to the customer driving or walking by. site Along an important road close to Thiruvananthapuram s city centre, this project is seen to become a renowned retail destination. The long road frontage can become an attractive point for all passers-by. msu programme A various composition of retail elements are distributed in a balanced way throughout three floors, based on a commercial strategy developed around the city s market. geometry of nature The multi-faceted and dynamic patterns often found in nature are the elements that have driven the design in its exterior and interior identity. zoning Each retail component is placed in the scheme following the predicted visitor flow, allowing it to become a continuous and complete shopping experience. volumetric + flow The panelled façade brings the visitor from outside towards the main entrances, where the flow then continues along the interior layout. dynamic geometry Maintaining a simple yet dynamic identity, the building becomes an iconic attraction in the Thiruvananthapuram area. LULU MALL INTERIOR Lulu Mall Thiruvananthapuram is a three-level retail and leisure destination which is located adjacent to the Lulu Hotel. Presenting a new and enhanced shopping destination for the area, the mall boasts 60,531sqm of GLA, and will include a 7,919sqm Lulu Hypermarket and a 7,846sqm Lulu Department Store, supported by a generous 3,000 car parking spaces. A 5,025sqm multiple-screen Cinema, as well as a 4,533sqm Family Entertainment Centre are situated on the top floor of the all, ensuring guests will be able to relax with a generous space dedicated to leisure time. The mall will also boast a unique food experience, suitable for all, which will be scattered throughout the destination, however with the main foodcourt being located on the top floor. LULU HOTEL & CONVENTION CENTRE Lulu Hotel Thiruvananthapuram sits adjacent to the mall, making it an ideal venue for visitors and tourists alike. Like the mall, the local heritage of the Thiruvananthapuram area played a big part in the design process for the hotel also, and the exterior design incorporates a modern translation of classic architecture; with beige tones and dark wooden details which follow an I shape. Internally, the hotel features plenty of natural materials and stylistic choices, such as marble, crystal chandeliers and dark wooden panels.

LULU HOTEL & CONVENTION CENTRE ARCHITECTURE The Marriot Courtyard Business Hotel features 109 rooms and includes suites, penthouses and executive meeting rooms. One entering the hotel, guests are presented with a 452,62sqm lobby, as well are a restaurant (138 seat capacity) and café (26 seat capacity). The conference centre lobby and dining hall (400 seat capacity) also occupy this floor, with other function areas and a VIP Lounge. Meeting rooms and offices are located on the 2nd floor, along with the gym, spa and swimming pool. Whilst the first floors are dedicated to the leisure elements and meeting rooms, the guestrooms start on the 4th floor and are distributed over three floors. The guestrooms adopt a classic contemporary style, with warm honey oak wooden floors which are complemented by luxurious grey woollen rugs, leather suites and contemporary art. The 8th and 9th floors are dedicated to the suites, featuring a 68.48sqm Executive Suite and a 139.43sqm Presidential Suite, amongst others.
