Inaugural NRVVCC Midweek Muster The Inaugural NRVVCC Midweek Muster was approved at the 681st meeting of the Club Wednesday 14th Feb 2018. The proposal was supported by a majority of members at the meeting. The first Muster will be held at Ballina Marine Rescue and Communications Centre located on the edge of the northern breakwater at the mouth of the mighty Richmond River. Simply look for a tower. Drive to Ballina to arrive at the tower car park at 9.45 am. You may bring a Club registered car or your daily drive. The date of the outing is Wednesday 7th March 2018. At 10am a tour of the Communications centre will be offered. This involves climbing about 200 steps into the control room.some may choose to use the Lift. At about 11am tea, coffee, sangers and scones prepared by the BMR Volunteers will be offered at the lower level. We will not form a convoy to drive to Ballina in respect of road safety. Likewise, we will simply disperse after the outing, although some have expressed a desire to take lunch in Ballina. This might be discussed. This is recognised as a Club outing. NRVVCC Members are requested to contact Peter or Bev Henson 0427340677, E Mail OCTANE1@BIGPOND.COM with comments/suggestions for future Musters. R Hambly said he was overwhelmed with the attendance by Club members E Davison has bought another Rover and has made himself a sign for the back of the car saying My other car is a Rover too! Eric s niece has given him a book she found in relation to the 20 millionth Ford. The book also tells the story of a lady who purchased 2 78 El Dorados as she was a big Elvis fan, drove one 58 miles home, sealed it up and left it sitting there until recently when it was uncovered by a relative and sold. R Stuckey attended the RMS recently to obtain a new Certificate of Approved Operation as he had lost his. As is usually the case, after he obtained the new one, he found the old one in his paperwork. He then went back to the RMS who was nice enough to refund the $22 that he had paid. B Trevan read a portion of the initial Club Constitution regarding the inspection of vehicles to allow registration to be obtained. Bob has trouble attending the rego days with all his cars and is tired of the rumour mill surrounding him not attending our rego days. He suggests that the Constitution be updated to make some alternative arrangements in the event G Johnston is no longer able to conduct the registration checks. P Polglase advised he is a member of the Sydney MG Club and he is able to obtain a Pink Slip and post the documents to the Secretary in Sydney and has his rego signed off that way. B Trevan was advised that he could take the vehicles to an authorised inspector and pay for each pink slip. C Loadsman advised that the Registration Officer is appointed at each AGM and they are not required to be an authorised inspector. R Hayward advised that if Bob approached Garry, he would be more than happy to attend Bob s house to inspect the vehicles. Bob advised that there are some members (not to be named) that complain every year that he does not attend the rego days. C Loadsman advised that the Club By-Laws will be updated throughout the year and this issue would be clarified. G Gill has a list of windscreens that are available from a recently closed Casino business. Outing to Lennox Head 18 th February 2018 After leaving Clyde Campbell Car Park we made our way past Woodlawn Colledge to Numulgi. We turned right at Lockton Road then a relaxing four Klm drive to the Bexhill hall for morning tea. Bexhill is a small community with one grocery store and is within a ten minute drive from the city of Lismore. After leaving Bexhill we made our way through Eltham and remained on the Eltham road passing the Teven Golf course. The drive to Lennox head was very enjoyable as we passed the outskirts of Tintenbar, through the township of Newrybar then a relaxing drive through the scenic countryside to the Lennox Head Bowling Club for lunch. The day was very enjoyable. EDITOR MEMBERS ATTENDING M&A Murray- Modern, C&N Loadsman 1929 Chev. 80 th Birthday Celebration I m not sure that celebrate is the right word for 80 th birthday celebrations, although I suppose being able to reach 80 without too many problems could be a reason to celebrate. I knew little about the party and was overwhelmed when we arrived at the old Richmond Hill School to find Club Members, work mates, family & friends arriving to join in celebrating my 80 th year. I would like to thank all those who came with those delightfull dishes, enough to feed an army, my sister bette and my son Frank,Wendy&Cheryl for the decorated birthday cakes, Col&Lynne and the boys in the back room who kept us entertained with their music and Warren Jones, Trevor&Sue Keys who travelled from the Gold Coast to join in with celebrations, and my wife Nancy who spent many weeks organising the festivities behind clossed doors. Many Thnnks to You All From Ron Hambly - OBE
Allora Heritage Weekend - 27th-28th January 2018 The Warwick Vintage & Veteran Car Club did a great job again this year organising their main event. After arriving, finding our camping spot and setting up camp it was off to the swap meet site for the boys to grab an early bargain and a cup of tea and chat for the girls then we were off to the swap, trucks and tractors were starting to arrive and be unloaded. Friday night it was out for dinner to the local hotel which is always great after which we ran into some people from Lismore so we had a chat with them for a while. Just outside was parked a Dodge truck so that had to be inspected also on the front it had JOHNSTON BROTHERS carriers, it was from Victoria. Saturday saw many trucks and tractors arriving from as far as Victoria, it was great for the truck and tractor lovers. Also during the morning the display of many vintage and classic cars arrived from different clubs around the area and Brisbane for display. The swap was in full swing, so at the end of the day we took home more than we bought with us. The truck parade commenced mid morning and all the tractors followed. After them was the vintage and classic vehicles, a few not seen before but a great range of vehicles. By afternoon the boys still did the swap and the girls did a charity fundraiser in the showground pavilion. Then it was happy hour....??? Saturday evening a dinner was held at the showground for everyone and a baked dinner was had, everyone enjoyed and then early to bed. Sunday was a bit more relaxed we all took a last look around and then back to the van for a rest and happy hours... Monday it was packing up and off home. A great weekend was had by all, and back again next year.

The Navy Chief A Navy Chief noticed a new seaman and barked at him, Get over here! What s your name sailor? John, the new seaman replied. Look I don t know what kind of bleeding heart pansy crap they re teaching sailors in boot camp nowadays, but I don t call anyone by his first name, the chief scowled. It breeds familiarity and that leads to a breakdown in authority. I refer to my sailors by their last names only; Smith Jones, Baker, whatever. And you are to refer to me as Chief. Do I make myself clear? Aye, Aye Chief! Now that we ve got that straight, what s your last name? The seaman sighed. Darling, My name is John Darling Chief From Bob Trevan
