Early this evening sail for Alaska. Day 7: SKAGWAY, ALASKA (B, L, D) It is in Skagway that you can most feel the history of the Klondike Gold Rush, where more than 100,000 hopeful prospectors took the treacherous journey across the Rockies (only 4,000 found any gold). Take the optional train journey aboard the White Pass and Yukon Railway built in the height of the Gold Rush to feel what the prospectors endured. In the town there is a little museum and some great souvenir and coffee shops. Day 8: GLACIER BAY, ALASKA (B, L, D) Today is one of the absolute highlights of your holiday to Alaska as Crown Princess enters the incomparable Glacier Bay a real privilege as so few ships are allowed to enter the Bay these days. With more than 200 glaciers in the Bay and the largest more than 1.5 km wide and 60-90 metres high it is a dramatic sight watching the huge towers of ice calve into the water. Day 9: COLLEGE FJORD, ALASKA (B, L, D) Today visit the most dramatic and tightly clustered collection of glaciers in Alaska with 16 glaciers winding their way back the Pacific Ocean 40km into the Chugach Mountains. Day 10: DISEMBARK CROWN PRINCESS. ARRIVE ON THE KENAI PENINSULA (B, D) This morning say Farewell to the Crown Princess at Whittier and transfer via coach to the beautiful Kenai Peninsula. The former Red Light district along Creek Street is now renovated and houses charming shops and restaurant and you can see salmon swimming upriver as you walk along the creek. Strolling beyond the centre it is a pretty forested city with totem poles and a view every corner. For the more adventurous there are optional fishing excursions. Day 6: JUNEAU, ALASKA (B, L, D) Juneau is Alaska s state capital and is a busy and cultured city. For a full understanding of Alaskan Indian history visit the State Museum. Nearby is the Mendenhall Glacier where you can walk up to the Glacier itself as it calves into the front of the lake. For relaxation visit the historic Red Dog Saloon, where Ragtime Hattie played and Wyatt Earp left his gun (it also serves the state s largest burgers!) Also in Juneau there are a range of optional tours on both land and sea. Day 11: KENAI FJORDS NATIONAL PARK CRUISE (B, D) Today enjoy a wonderful cruise on a small ship in the Kenai Fjords National Park. Get up close and personal with glaciers and hopefully see the humpbacks, orcas, sea lions and otters that live in the area. After a busy day, relax for dinner in the Eagle s Crest Restaurant in your hotel. Day 12: CONTINUE TO MOUNT MCKINLEY (B, D) This morning you will enjoy a scenic coach trip to MT. MCKINLEY PRINCESS WILDERNESS LODGE for a two night stay, situated on the southern edge of Denali National Park. With good weather (and fortune) you may be able to see the summit of North America s highest peak towering an unbelievable 20,320 feet in the sky.
