The trip starts on August 31 by flying to Seattle and spending a pre-cruise night in one of Seattle's beautiful downtown hotels with a first evening welcoming reception hosted by Chef Alli. The next morning board the Carnival Legend and spend a week exploring the scenic beauty of Alaska. We have reserved balcony staterooms, since there is so much to see in Alaska. This price includes round-trip airfare from Kansas City or Wichita, ground transfers, hotel, party, group t-shirt, food on board except in specialty restaurants, pre-paid gratuities, and a salmon bake in Juneau. It does not include alcohol, shore excursions, or onboard activities that require fees such as bingo.
From Monday, 31 August To Tuesday, 1 September Your Alaskan vacation begins with a flight from Wichita or Kansas City to Seattle, where you will be transferred to the Embassy Suites Hotel. The evening will include dinner on your own and a welcoming reception with Chef Alli to meet others in the group. From Wednesday, 2 September To Thursday, 3 September Breakfast will be provided at the Embassy Suites. You will be transported to the pier where you will go to the Carnival Cruise Lines terminal to board the Carnival Legend. There will be time to get settled and familiarize yourself with the ship prior to departing at 4:00 p.m.
From Thursday, 3 September To Friday, 4 September Today will be a full day spent at sea. Check the daily activities in the Fun Times publication delivered to your stateroom. There will be many activities in which you can participate. This will be a day for relaxation, conversation, and simply enjoying the cruise. From Friday, 4 September To Saturday, 5 September Juneau 1:00 p.m. 10:00 p.m. Today you will arrive in Juneau, the capital of Alaska, which is unlike any other state capital you have visited. It is nestled at the foot of Mt. Juneau in the Alaska Panhandle, facing the water from the mainland side of Gastineau Channel. This town is only accessible by air or water, although there is a 35-mile highway that runs the length of the coast. This former gold-mining town contains some of Alaska's most spectacular scenery. The majestic Mendenhall Glacier is nearby, which you must visit! Admission to the visitor s center at Mendenhall Glacier is $3.00. Special whale watching opportunities will be available through Orca Enterprises owned by Carol Pitts, a native of Newton, KS. A memorable thrill would be a Roberts Mountain tram ride. Excursions available include a helicopter tour of the glaciers, a once-in-a-lifetime dogsled ride or a floatplane tour over five breathtaking glaciers. There are many ways to explore this wonderful town---guided tours, by bus, on foot, or by renting a car. With more trails than roads, Alaska's capital features world-class hiking through glacial waterfalls and the largest temperate rain forest in the state. From Friday, 4 September To Saturday, 5 September Skagway 7 a.m. 9 p.m. Today you will arrive in Skagway. When gold was discovered in the Klondike region of the Yukon Territory, it resulted in the historic Gold Rush of 1898. As thousands of gold-crazed adventurers sough the best starting point for the arduous trek, they found the deepest penetration possible by boat was at the northern tip of the Lynn Canal. This is how Skagway was born. A century ago, Skagway was a thriving community of 10,000 gold stampeders heading up the Chilkoot Trail to the Klondike. Now, nature has reclaimed the land. You should be able to view eagles, spectacular wildflowers, and gorgeous mountain scenery. Enjoy walking the streets of Skagway and exploring its quaint shops You may want to stop in at the Red Onion Saloon, a once famous brothel, now featuring a restaurant. Skagway features the world-famous White Pass and Yukon Railroad. The ship departs at 9:00 p.m. which gives you a full day to enjoy this charming, historic place. From Sunday, 6 September To Monday, 7 September Glacier Bay Have your camera ready, wrap up in a warm jacket, and prepare to spend the day on deck photographing the spectacular sights of Glacier Bay. These are the sights you always imagine of when you think of Alaska. A National Park naturalist will be onboard to enhance the trip. President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed the area around Glacier Bay a national monument on February 25, 1925. Covering 3.3 million acres of rugged mountains, dynamic glaciers, temperate rainforest, wild coastlines, and deep sheltered fjords, Glacier Bay National Park is a highlight of Alaska's Inside Passage and part of a 25-million acre World Heritage Siteone of the world s largest international protected areas.
From Sunday, 6 September To Monday, 7 September Ketchikan 7:00 a.m. 1:00 p.m. Today the ship arrives in Ketchikan at 7:00 a.m. and departing at 1:00 p.m., providing a short day for exploring. Ketchikan originated as an Indian fish saltery, but the town's major growth began when it became a supply base and entry port for miners during the 1898 Gold Rush to the Klondike. Much of the town's colorful past is still in evidence, especially in the nearby Indian villages, where you'll see colorfully carved totem poles and hear the fascinating legends that surround them. You may choose to take the local bus to see the famous totem poles at Totem Bight. You may walk through the park on your own or join a guided tour. Kayaking, canoeing and fly fishing is also available. Floatplane and helicopter tours are available for those wishing to visit Misty Fjords. From Tuesday, 8 September To Wednesday, 9 September Victoria, British Columbia, Canada 7:30 p.m. 11:59 p.m. Much of today will be spent cruising. However, in the evening the Legend will arrive in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, for a few hours. Located on the southern tip of the island of Vancouver, the city of Victoria is best know for its mild climate and active outdoor lifestyle. As the capital of British Columbia, the city is very tourist friendly. It features British history, and fantastic shopping.
From Tuesday, 8 September To Wednesday, 9 September Seattle, WA Today you will return to port in Seattle at 7:00 a.m. Prepare to disembark. Transfers will be provided to the airport for afternoon return flights to Wichita or Kansas City.
