Meet Albert Thissen, Chairman of the French National Union of Shipping Agents (SNAM) Watch the video of the interview here: 1. There s been a lot of news about shipping companies this autumn, with changes in alliances, restructuring, mergers and acquisitions... In a few words, can you explain the stakes for the ports of HAROPA? These are very important times for container shipping. Currently, there are four major groups of shipping lines. In the future, there will only be three and all three will have to redefine their port calls. So for HAROPA, this is the time to demonstrate your attractiveness and viability. As far as the integration of three ports that currently form HAROPA is concerned, we ll quickly see if the integration is effective in operational and commercial terms for the alliances involved: Does HAROPA think like an actor in a supply chain that reaches the pool of consumers in the Ile-de-France region and beyond? 2. Multimodality is a central logistics concern for the stakeholders involved in sea trade: according to the SNAM, how HAROPA address that issue? To be a stakeholder in a global supply chain, one of the problems concerns connections. There are currently three solutions: road, rail and river. As far as river and rail modes are concerned, there is still much to do in terms of investments. For road transport, we can see there is still a huge number of containers that are loaded and unloaded in a very short time, a consequence of the size of vessels (18,000 TEU). The infrastructure has to be adapted to these enormous peaks in production. So if all three ports coordinate well, it increases the attractiveness of the HAROPA offer. 3. As a Union of Shipping Agents across the country, in your opinion, what are the items that French ports need to improve in order to compete with the northern European ports? One area for improvement concerns the Port Community System. It is very important in a country like France there is only one system. People need to understand that logistics really involves two things. On the one hand, the physical transportation of goods, but the flow of goods is accompanied by a major stream of information on the other. Currently, if a ship calls in Le Havre or Marseilles, it has to use two different systems. In the future, it will be much more effective if you can work with one system, which will increase the effectiveness of French ports as a whole. - www.pixell.fr HAROPA WEB TV : For all the news on the ports of the Seine corridor with streaming media reports on the skills, services, people and business lines in the ports of Le Havre, Rouen and Paris. 1

HAROPA ESI 2015 Awards ceremony: and the winners are... At a ceremony held at Port 2000 on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of its commissioning, the three ports of the Seine corridor awarded the «Best Green Shipping Line HAROPA - ESI* 2015» trophy on Wednesday 7 September to the following shipping lines: In alphabetical order APL CMA CGM Le Havre et CMA CGM Rouen EUKOR EVERGREEN HAMBURG SUD HANJIN SHIPPING HAPAG LLOYD MAERSK LINE MOL LINER MSC NYK UASC In so doing, HAROPA, a founding partner of the Environmental Ship Index (ESI) initiative, is reasserting its support for shipping companies that like the HAROPA ports commit to preserving the environment. The objective of the award is to encourage ship owners to reduce atmospheric emissions from ships and thus promote increasingly «clean» a maritime transport. Being particularly aware of the causes of pollution, increasing numbers of shipowners are playing the game and even voluntarily exceeding the regulatory requirements. Since its creation in 2012, 21 shipping companies have signed the HAROPA charter and at year-end 2015, HAROPA had rewarded a total of 890 port calls. Port 2000, an initiative integrating the environment HAROPA wanted to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Port 2000 by hosting the awards ceremony on-site. From its conception, Port 2000 has taken into account the particularly sensitive environmental context in which it was integrated. Beyond the measures taken to minimize the impact of the construction work, it was the beginning of a genuine concerted initiative in favour of the environmental rehabilitation of the Seine estuary through environmental measures that accompany the project and go beyond mere compensation. *Environmental Ship Index - a benchmark measurement that evaluates the environmental performance of ships, began in 2009 with five other ports of the northern European range Aiming to extend the approach This year the ESI trophy has been renamed «Best Green Shipping Line HAROPA» award and is part of the Green Label initiative. Exclusively maritime in origin, the initiative has indeed now been extended to rivers: in March of this year, the first Environmental awards for river fleets was launched by HAROPA - Ports of Paris. The trophies were presented by: Régine Brehier, HAROPA President, CEO of HAROPA - Ports of Paris, Hervé Martel, HAROPA Vice-President, CEO of HAROPA - Port of Le Havre, Nicolas Occis, HAROPA Vice-President, CEO of HAROPA - Port of Rouen. 4

PHILCO International organised the loading of 2,650 cubic meters of goods on the quai de l Europe with the help and professionalism of GMP s cargo handling teams. It involved the chartering of the JUMBO Kinetic - one of the largest in the world with 2 cranes each with a capacity of 1,500 tonnes. The load - industrial filters and accessories - was for the mining industry in Saudi Arabia. HAROPA Out-Of-Gauge Cargo Contact: Bruno Le Gurun + 33 6 85 91 41 40 bruno.legurun@haropaports.com 5
Record grain campaign for HAROPA - Port of Rouen The 2015/2016 grain export campaign ended with an outstanding result, with a total of 9.1 Mt of grain (cereal, oilseed rape, peas and field beans) exported from the Rouen silos. The previous record was the 1999/2000 season with 9.03 Mt. The record production of French wheat in the summer of 2015 and the very high demand from importing countries favoured French exports, and to respond smoothly to the high demand, the significant storage capacity and high silo loading rates in Rouen fully played their role. The grain was shipped to the traditional destinations such as Algeria, Morocco or Egypt, but also to much more distant destinations such as China, Thailand or Mexico, allowing HAROPA - Port of Rouen to regain market share. Exports from port facilities in Rouen represented 41% of all French grain exports and 18% of all grain exports from the European Union. The year fully mobilized all of the operators and will remain a benchmark year for the grain sector in Rouen. HAROPA AgriFood Contact, Industry sector: Manuel Gaborieau + 33 2 32 52 96 10 / manuel.gaborieau@haropaports.com Port 2000 transport services: access for inland vessels The decree on «navigation at sea of inland tank vessels for Port 2000 transport services for the purpose of ship refuelling and services» was published in the Official Journal on 5 August. It is the result of wide-ranging cooperation between ship-owners, the port of Le Havre and State services. Thanks to this decree, inland tank vessels holding an individual authorization issued in advance by the prefect of the Seine Maritime department can now propose a bunkering and waste collection service for ships calling at Port 2000. The authorization applies to self-propelled barges at the entrance and exit of the historic port and must be renewed every 5 years. The decree is designed to improve the competitiveness of bunkering services to ships calling at Port 2000 and in particular allows HAROPA - Port of Le Havre to enhance its attractiveness.
