This tour booklet provides an outline of the highlights of your trip and a detailed itinerary with flight and hotel details for you and those at home who may want to contact you. It also includes information that will be useful while you are in Italy. All the information is subject to change due to any circumstances beyond our control. Name Badge Please wear this upon arrival in Rome so that our staff can recognize you and whenever you are participating in a tour program. Baggage Tags Be sure that each of your bags, including your check-in bag, has a completed KIconcerts baggage tag affixed. Other things to note: Airline Tickets Your airline ticket is an electronic ticket. A copy is not necessary for airport check-in as long as you have your passport and flight information. Passport Your passport is vital. Take care of it at all times. Do not pack it in your check-in baggage and do not leave it lying around. Keep a copy of your passport separate from your passport. REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES July 2 and 3, 2018 Festival Rehearsals at Sala 2000, Ergife Hotel, Rome July 3, 2018 Shared Concert with St Thomas Gospel Choir at Sant Agnese in Agone, Rome Standley Lake High School is in its 30th year representing the motto Gator Strong as the home of Day Without Hate. As such, Standley Lake Singers embrace all who walk into the choir room and pride themselves in using music to bring their community together. As dedicated musicians, they have performed in California, at Lincoln Center, with VOCES8, and in and around the Denver Metro Area. Our singers represent us annually in local honor choirs and at Colorado All State Choir. Among this musical group, you will find not only singers, but instrumentalists, actors, athletes, academicians, philanthropists, and comedians! Our singers are going on to major in music, music theatre, computer science, pre-med, pre-law, and education. They are in their fifth year under the direction of Ms. Chatfield, who could not be more proud of them. Sant Agnese in Agone is a 17th century Baroque church located on the Piazza Navona in Rome, one of the main urban spaces in the historic centre of the city and the site where the Early Christian Saint Agnes was martyred in the ancient Stadium of Domitian. The name of this church is unrelated to the agony of the martyr: in agone was the ancient name of Piazza Navona (piazza in agone), and meant instead, from the Greek, in the site of the competitions. July 4, 2018 REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES Festival Chorus sings the Mass at St Peter s Basilica, Vatican City St Peter s Basilica is the world s largest Basilica of Christianity, nested into the heart of the Vatican City. St. Peter s Basilica stands on the traditional site where Peter - the apostle who is considered the first pope - was crucified and buried. St. Peter s tomb is under the main altar and many other popes are buried in the basilica as well. Originally founded by Constantine in 324, St. Peter s Basilica was rebuilt in the 16th century by Renaissance masters including Bramante, Michelangelo and Bernini. Page 6
July 5, 2018 REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES Dress Rehearsal and Festival Gala Concert at Sant Ignazio di Loyola Church, Rome The Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola was built in Baroque style between 1626 and 1650. The church has a Latin cross plan with numerous side chapels. the theatrical focus on the high altar at the rear of the broad eastern apse, the church s colored marbles, animated stucco figural relief, richly ornamented altars, extensive gilding, and bold Tromp l oeil paintings in the dome at its crossing and in the nave ceiling all produce a festive, sumptuous effect.
