LAKE ERIE CHAPTER # 3738 JULY. 2011 Volume 2 Issue 7 SPONSORED BY: LAKE ERIE HARLEY DAVIDSON 38401 CHESTER AVON OHIO DIRECTOR S CHAIR MIKE COTRUFO Inside this issue: Director s Chair 1 WOW! The summer s here and it s HOT! The HOG Chapter rides have been fantastic and are getting better! The G&R Tavern ride to Waldo was a blast and I rode it on a new Harley Davidson Softtail Blackline. Mike Stevens was kind enough to let me use it, due to my bike having some routine maintenance done. That bike was quite a riding experience! It was easy to maneuver and fun to ride. I still prefer the comforts of the Baggers and Dressers. My old tail likes the cushy comforts of a cruiser. Regardless, it was a fun ride! If any of you haven t gone on this ride, I suggest that you do. Great fried baloney sandwiches! The following day was the 16 th Annual Toy Run to Fairview Hospital. Around 900 bikers came out and Mike Stevens presented a check for $4,500.00 to the hospital from the registrations. A total of $7,265.00 plus around 1,000 toys and stuffed animals were donated by all of the riders. This toy run supplies the hospital with all of the toys used all year long by the pediatric unit. The money is used for the arts and crafts for the same. My hats off to all of you for participating in this charity! Also, the volunteers and HOG Road Captains were exceptional in their duties for this event. As a matter of fact, I overheard some of the customers at Lake Erie HD comment on how smooth the parking of the bikes were and how well everyone worked together. Man, you men and women are the best! Every time something good is said about us, it just makes our HOG Chapter the best one to be a part of! Again, my hats off to all of you who helped out during this and every other ride! If you are going to participate in any HOG ride as a volunteer or rider, make sure that you sign up online at our HOG website. David Johnson, our HOG Chapter Webmaster, has put together an incredible website that you can do all of the above for whatever event or ride that you would like to participate in. On another note, I just returned from a trip to Rome, Italy and had a great time! Actually, it was for business. I could speak volumes about the trip but won t. Page 2 DIRECTORS CHAIR - CONTINUED countryside, and wonderful works of art or the spectacular views of the ancient buildings! It truly was a trip of a lifetime! I even found the local Harley Davidson shop in Rome! I bought a couple of t-shirts that were over $50.00 US! That s it for now, so as I always close the Hogwash, let me know what I can do to make your membership experience better. Email me, stop me in the dealership whenever you see me and I will do my best for you! We are the best Chapter in the country! Anyhow, be cool, ride safe and I ll see you soon Mike Cotrufo RINGO SAYS - ASSISTANT DIRECTOR - RON LONG HI Everyone, For those of you that did not attend Lake Erie s Demo days, you miss a great opportunity to ride a new Harley at no cost to you. They had 18 bikes to demo. We had some where around 200 different people demo all the bikes. The weather was just great all weekend. It was really hot on Saturday. But once you got on a bike, you almost forgot how hot it was. I want to thank all the road captains for a really great job all weekend. We did 9 to 11 ride each day, mostly full. We also had the chance to ride any bike we wanted to. Some of the road captains even rode the trike. I will be leading a ride to Kelly s Island on June 18, staging at 10:30 leaving at 11:00. It should take about a 1-1/2 to get there. We will be taking all back roads. Once were there, we will have lunch at Bag the Moon. Afterwards, I will take everyone that wants to go for a rode around the island. We have some fun rides planned for the rest of the summer. Don t forget the Fairview toy run is on June 26 th. You can go to our website and download a registration form and just fill it out and bring it with you on the day of the ride. Ride safe and have fun Ron ringo Long

Page 3 GROUP RIDING CLASS - JOHN GUDIN There will be a group riding class on July 30 at Lake Erie Harley Davidson beginning at 11:00 AM The cose is FREE but space is limited, so let me know if you are interested in taking the class. Thanks John Gudin NEW E-MAIL ADDRESSES - DAVID JOHNSON The Lake Erie HOG Chapter Officer contact email addresses are changing this month. Due to multiple concerns and to provide a continuous email address for each Chapter Officer, regardless of who is acting in that capacity, we are creating "permanent" email addresses. Please update your address books to reflect these changes. The Chapter Newsletter and Web Site will also be updated to the new addresses. We ask each Officer and each member to refrain from using these accounts to communicate for personal reasons. They are intended to be used to contact the Officer, not the individual person. If and when these Officers step down and pass these accounts to the next member, there would be significant confusion in the future.
