What is an Airport Master Plan? Tool to manage the airport s development and operational sustainability Two Parts Master Plan Report Airport Layout Plan (ALP) (drawing set) Covers 5, 10, and 20-year horizons Typically updated every 5-7 years Content, process and methods follow FAA guidance and standards
Why do an Airport Master Plan? To ensure that future development is: Planned and logical Feasible and flexible Fiscally sustainable Environmentally responsible Regionally supported To support airport modernization and expansion to meet foreseeable aviation demand and customer needs To make the Airport eligible for federal funding assistance on improvement projects, should the Port decide to pursue grant funding To promote customer satisfaction To promote compatible development

Project Background Phase 1 of the Master Plan involved the: Justification Report to the FAA for inclusion in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS). Phase 2 of the Master Plan will include: Continued engagement with stakeholders; Identification of existing strengths and facility needs; Development of future growth projections; Identification of flexible development strategies; and the Creation of a Master Plan Document and ALP set.
Community and Stakeholder Engagement In-Person Interviews held July 27-29 and September 8-10, 2015. Additional Meetings ongoing and held via conference call. Stakeholders offered feedback on the following: Airport Uses / Land Uses Guiding Principles / Decisional Criteria Impacts for Consideration Significant Decisions Branding Marketing, Education, and Communication Additional Inquiry Required Immediate Needs Interviewees Include: Port San Antonio Customers Atlantic Aviation, Lockheed Commercial Engines, Boeing Company, GDC Technics, Safran Group, CIG Logistics Steering Committee Port Board of Directors and Steering Committee Representatives USAF Officials / Personnel Operations Support Squadron and Joint Base San Antonio Leadership San Antonio Community of Airports San Antonio International Airport (SAT), Stinson Municipal Airport (SSF), New Braunfels Regional Airport (BAZ) City of San Antonio Officials Mayor s office, County Representatives, Chambers of Commerce, Economic Development Entities
