FAQ s Aircraft At McMurray Aviation, we have a fleet of 4 Cessna 172 aircraft available for training. These aircraft are professionally maintained by on-site aviation mechanics, following Transport Canada guidelines. If you own your aircraft, we would be pleased to provide training for you as well. Fuel Injected vs. Carburetor Fuel Injected engines, such as the one used by FXVA, provide more uniform distribution of fuel to all cylinders. This provides better cooling, fuel savings, and increased power. The fuel injected engine has better cold weather starting capabilities. Carburetor engines, such as GJSE, GYYE, and GRUG, are fairly common in most light trainers. The carburetor mixes the correct amount of fuel and air. Due to a decrease in temperature it is subject to icing which restricts the airflow to the cylinders. To melt the ice, carburetor heat is applied which robs the engine of its power to enriching of the mixture resulting in wasted fuel. C-GJSE This aircraft excels during cross-county and instrument training flights due to the added navigational equipment such as ILS, VOR, and ADF. It also has long range fuel tanks and a slightly more powerful engine (160HP) C-FXVA The fuel injected Cessna 172SP has 180HP and cruising speed of 110KTAS. This aircraft has a Bendix King GPS with moving map, and other advanced navigational instruments to take your training to the next level. C-GRUG & C-GYYE Great for learning the basics; this aircraft has everything a student pilot requires during the initial stages of training. It has a GPS and a basic instrument panel. Do I have to pay for schooling all at once? No, the only initial payments are ground school($300), and the cost of your books ($250). payments can be made after each session, or pre-paid on account. How do I know if McMurray Aviation is right for me? Stop by and meet our instructors and staff. Take a discovery flight, which is the first lesson of flight training and your first loggable hours. How long will it take to get my license? Everyone goes at their own pace, Generally it takes students any where from 4-8 months. How much is this going to cost me? See the cost and requirement charts Can I do ground school if I work shift work? Yes! your ground school is a life time fee, and the ground school is always repeating. So whatever classes you miss, you can take in the second rotation. You also have the option of doing ground Instruction for $55/hr to make up a few missed classes. What happens if I temporarily discontinue my flight training? Students can withdraw and attend the next scheduled ground school session at no additional charge. Didn t answer your question?
