So we have decided to hold it as part of the Scottish National Honey Show at Camperdown Park, Dundee, on 31 st Aug, 1 st and 2 nd September. Entries should be delivered on the Thursday (30 th Aug) afternoon or early evening, or very early on the Friday judging begins at 8am so you d need to be clear well before that. Each class will be judged twice, with the top 3 places being SNHS winners, and the best 3 FBA/DWFBA entries being Fife Honey Show winners. Of course, a Fife entrant may well be both NHSH best and Fife best! Copies of the schedule, including recipes for the baking classes, are available from www.dundeeflowerandfoodfestival.com 1
INTERMEDIATE CLASSES got off to a great start on 14 July at Enid s Lethangie apiary. Attendees were paired up and each pair went through one or more of Enid s colonies, making comments and being asked questions such as would be asked in the Basic Beemaster exam, which we hope all will take next summer. It is not too late to join the next class is on 28 July, 2pm, again at Lethangie. The cost for the whole course of 4 outdoor and four indoor classes is 20 see list of dates for your diary. NUCS AVAILABLE After fearing none of the new queens would manage to mate successfully in this awful summer, Jim Bell and Janice Furness do now have several nucs available for sale. 5 frame nuc (3 of brood, 2 of stores) with new marked queen. FBA has placed a bulk order for containers of Apisuc members were emailed about this a few weeks ago and we know quite a few of you are interested. FBA Treasurer Isabel Brown thought funds sufficiently healthy for this, to enable fully paid up FBA members to benefit from much lower prices than when buying individually. Collection with payment will be from FBA apiary in St Andrews Botanic Gardens on Fri 3 August 5-7pm and on Sunday 5 August 2-4pm. Contact Enid 01592 840 582 to place your order. Entry Charges are 10 for adults, 5 Concessions. We have 27 acres at Vane Farm - so there is plenty of Car Parking - PLEASE NOTE - PUBLIC CAR PARK ENTRANCE is GATE 3 - and is the Gate you should use. If helping set up on FRIDAY, please enter by GATE 2 (signed Trade Stands). This of course is all very dependent on the weather - and the fields will be subject to Health and Safety inspections prior to the Show.
