Pollinate! Art Show: Small is Beautiful An open, group art show in Questa celebrating pollination and pollinators OCHO Art & Event Space, #8 State Hwy 38, Questa, NM August 6 September 25, 2016 Reception August 13, 5-8 pm Gallery Hours: Fridays - Sundays 11 am - 5 pm PLEASE READ ALL PAGES CAREFULLY! Policies & Logistics The Pollinate! Art Show is open to Questa and Taos artists as well as other regional artists (of Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado) wanting to submit artwork(s) that reflect the Pollination theme. (See below for theme guidelines.) Background and Information Pollinate: collaborate, create, celebrate Pollinate: collaborate, create, celebrate is this year s theme for Questa s third annual Event & Education Series and therefore the theme of our third annual summer art show. Why? Pollination happens every year, all around us, impacts many parts of our lives and yet remains a mystery to many of us. Pollination is a beautiful, complex, sexy and essential process for the survival of plants, animals and humans. It is inherently collaborative and creative. This is true, literally, for plants to reproduce (think food!) and for bees, butterflies and other pollinators to survive. It s also true figuratively, as with the cross-pollination of ideas that prompt new thinking, understanding and innovation. The Pollinate! theme is a call for putting our connections to work. It shines a spotlight on the global decline of pollinators and emphasizes local pollinators and the plants that help them thrive. Through art, science, ideas, stories and more, we are adding to our communities thoughts and gardens, and that is worth celebrating! We hope you can join us! 2
