Board Update Dear Fellow Coconut Plantation Owners, 2016 was an exciting year for Hyatt Coconut Plantation in that a number of projects were started and completed. 2017 will be no exception. At our most recent board of directors meeting on October 20, 2016, the board approved a number of new capital projects for 2017. The board approved the major dining room project to change all the dining room tables, chairs, buffet and wall hanging items. Additionally, all the major appliances, such as the refrigerator, stove, microwave, and dishwasher will be upgraded to Frigidaire Gallery products line. with all the great owners we have, make up the Hyatt Coconut Plantation family, and by working together we will continue to make Hyatt Coconut Plantation the best. Please pass on any concerns and ideas that will help us in this endeavor. A number of scheduled maintenance projects were also approved, as your board is committed to the highest level of quality on the property. All of this, of course, is designed to make your vacation experience as enjoyable as possible. The board, along with Rey Martinez and his outstanding staff, worked very hard to keep the annual assessment billing at a minimum. Assessments for 2017 will increase 3.18%. One negative, however, is the projected tax increase of $17.32 by Lee County. The board feels like this is too much and has employed a tax consultant firm to appeal the increase. Any savings as a result of the effort would be credited to a future year s assessment. The board is dedicated to keeping Hyatt Coconut Plantation the jewel that it truly is. My fellow owner board members, Julie Parmegiani and Bob Cherundulo, along The new Triple Waterslide and Lazy River Pool Complex at our sister property Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa is available to Hyatt Coconut Plantation owners. The complex is three stories tall and will consist of three different style slides. They will also have a 575- foot lazy river attached to the complex. Spotlight EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT Shigui Shigui Guo is one of Hyatt Coconut Plantation s original employees. Shigui, originally from China, joined us as part of Hyatt Coconut Plantation s opening team in 2003. Shigui went to work right away, as the property was not completed and there was lots of work to be done. She was cleaning rooms in the buildings before there were any guests here to stay in them. Shigui has been such an asset to the property and to the housekeeping department. She has had the opportunity to get to know several owners over the years and share a great relationship with them. It is very common for owners to request Shigui, or to just seek her out to see her happy smile and positive demeanor. When Shigui is not at work, she enjoys cooking and window shopping. Resort News Renovation Project 2016 was a very busy year for Hyatt Coconut Plantation, as we completed a four-part renovation project in all of our units. The living room furnishings were completely updated, new carpet was installed, and new bedding was placed in all the units. The new balcony furniture was installed in late spring with an addition of a chaise lounge. The new upgraded look in the units has provided very positive feedback. It is comfortable, and the new coastal theme has given your home away from home a breath of fresh air. The living room furnishings and carpet were inspired by the southwest Florida surroundings that all Hyatt Coconut Plantation owners have come to know and love. The teals, pinks, blues, and tans might take your imagination to Big Hickory Island while watching the sunset on a beautiful summer night. The accent pictures on the walls will provide either the glistening water of the Gulf of Mexico or the palm trees swaying in the distance. Included in the living room upgrade is a 55-inch TV that swivels, making it easy to watch from any point in the room. Along with the TV came the HD cable upgrade that now provides a high definition picture in all of the rooms. Bedding and Pillows Our new Elegance Bedding Collection, placed on all of the beds, provides a soft and comfortable sleeping experience. All of the pillows have been replaced with synthetic pillows and feather pillows are now available upon request. An extra pillow has been added to each side of the bed for comfort and relaxation. The top décor of the bed has been updated to a simple, yet attractive throw at the end of the bed that might remind you of seeing bright sea plants washed up on the sandy shore. New Electronic Lock In addition to the in-room upgrades, multiple exterior changes took place, including a new electronic lock system, making it easier for guests to access units and amenities, while keeping us secure.
