PERU PERU TRADICIONAL 10 days / 8 nights March 23 to April 1, 2018 (Travel dates to be confirmed upon flight booking)
DAY 1: USA / PERU Board your flight and fly through the night to Peru. DAY 2: CUSCO Bienvenidos a Peru! Meet your Forum Tour Manager upon arrival. Take a guided tour of the city. See Plaza de Armas - legendary founding place of the city. You ll also see the 17th century Cathedral - a masterpiece of colonial art, which is part of a complex of three churches. Visit the Koricancha: a famous temple dedicated to the sun, with walls of polished stone that are considered the best works of Inca art; it is one of the most fascinating sites of Cuzco. Next, visit the ruins around Puca Pucara, whose name means Red Fort and was most likely a stopping place for travellers and their animals to rest and eat. See Tambomachay and its ceremonial water fountains, and Qenqo, a temple and amphitheatre that once held several kinds of ceremonies. It is also the famous fortress where Sacsayhuamán (Festival of Sun) occurs annually. DAY 3: SACRED VALLEY / PISAC MARKET / OLLANTAYTAMBO After breakfast, travel to the Sacred Valley of the Inca - a long narrow valley which goes from Urcos in the south, towards the north, crossing Ollantaytambo, before it finally reaches the edge of Machu Picchu. Upon arrival, have some free time to enjoy the Pisac Village Market. Have lunch in the Sacred Valley. After, explore the Ruins of Pisac and enjoy the view of the Urubamba Valley. Visit the ruins of Ollantaytambo with a local guide it is the only village that is intact from the Inca period in which people still live in today! DAY 4: MACHU PICCHU After breakfast, head to the train station and take a train to Aguas Calientes - a small town located at the base of Machu Picchu (4-hour train ride). Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, transfer by bus to the citadel to visit the fabulous archaeologic site. Enjoy a guided tour of Machu Picchu. Have lunch with your group at a local restaurant. After, enjoy some free time to discover Machu Picchu at your own pace.
DAY 5: MISMINAY After breakfast, travel to Misminay a village located at the end of the sacred valley. Meet Andean people, participate in a ritual and learn about the Cuyuni community and their ceremony. After, partake in a weaving workshop learn about traditional tools & coloring techniques. Enjoy lunch with the community. Then, learn about agriculture and how the community harvests & grows their crops. After, take a cooking class! Take care of what you make, this will be your dinner. Overnight accommodation at your hotel. DAY 6: CUSCO / PUNO After breakfast, travel to Puno. En route, you will pass through the Altiplano be sure to look for llama & Alpaca! Stop in the town of Andahuaylillas and visit its 17th century church. See the Racchi Ruins The Temple of God Wiracocha. Stop to have lunch at a local restaurant. Visit La Raya located 4335 meters above sea level and take in the view of the Andes. Dinner and overnight accommodation in Puno. DAY 7: PUNO / LAKE TITICACA Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Start the day with a boat ride on Lake Titicaca the highest navigable lake in the world. Visit the floating islands of the Uros made of totora reeds. Have lunch with your group at a local restaurant. See the Island of Taquile covered with terraced fields and discovered the island at your own pace. Board the boat and return to Puno for dinner and overnight accommodation. DAY 8: PUNO / JULIACA / LIMA After breakfast at your hotel, transfer to the Juliaca Airport and board your domestic flight to Lima. Have lunch at a local restaurant. Enjoy a guided walking tour of Lima Plaza Mayor, Government Palace, Archbishop's Palace, City Hall and the old streets with colonial mansions & Moorish balconies. This afternoon visit the Pantanos de Villa Wildlife Refuge. Dinner and overnight accommodation at your hotel.
DAY 9: LIMA / CARAL / LIMA After breakfast at your hotel, transfer to Caral. Enjoy a visit of Caral, the most ancient city of the Americas and a well-studied site of the Norte Chico civilization. Return to Lima for dinner and overnight accommodation. DAY 10: DEPART After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the airport and board your flight back home.
