The Club The Clifton Club is Bristol s oldest existing Private Members Club located in a glorious Georgian building in the heart of Clifton Village. The traditional elegance and grandeur of the surroundings come together with modern facilities to provide an exclusive environment in which male and female Members of all ages can relax and socialise with like-minded people. Founded by a group of gentlemen in 1818, the Club boasts a fascinating history. For many, membership represents the opportunity to become part of this history and thus exclusivity is key to maintaining the high standards that are inherent to the Club s existence. Rooms & Facilities Following a complete refurbishment in 2008, the Club offers a unique collection of rooms and facilities including Wi-Fi throughout. The Drawing Room Bar and Lounge overlooks Caledonia Gardens and provides the perfect retreat from busy Clifton life. The wonderfully impressive Dining and Centenary Rooms are filled with natural light through the domed ceilings. In 2012, the Greenway Room was refurbished and renamed after the Club building s original designer. Furthermore, the Bridge Room and Snooker Room act as a social hub for players.

Reciprocal Clubs The Clifton Club is proud to have reciprocal arrangements with over sixty Private Members Clubs across the world, many of which offer accommodation. With numerous Central Clubs and others across Europe, Asia, Africa, America and Australia, wherever a Member may travel, they are likely to find a home away from home. The traditional route is through recommendation by two individuals who have been Members of the Club for three years or more. In this case, one Member must act as the proposer and another as a seconder. Alternatively, it is possible to take up probationary membership which involves an initial trial period of four months after which the application will be reviewed and a Member can be fully elected. Incentives: If a new Member is introduced to the Club by an existing Member, as a thank you, the Club will reward the Member responsible for the introduction with credit on their account.
