Dear Friends and Colleagues, On behalf of Organizing Committee and Department of Forensic Medicine, Sarajevo, I'm pleased to announce that the 21st International Meeting on Forensic Medicine Alpe- Adria-Pannonia will be held from 30.05. to 02.06. in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The issue of missing persons in Bosnia and Herzegovina continues to burden their families and affect the reconciliation process. Significant progress has been made in locating and identifying missing persons. However, thousands of families remain without information about their beloved relatives. Forensic medicine experts are facing this problem and its large part of our job. Therefore we decided that the main topic of the Meeting will be: Exhumation-Examination-Identification Besides the main topic, topics from all other forensic fields are welcome. Official language will be English. The deadline for submission of abstract is April 15. 2012. Programme In addition, during the regular programme, it will be also organized: ICRC Symposium The issue of unidentified human remains stored in facilities in Kosovo (350), BiH (3,000), and Croatia (900) is a regional issue that would benefit from a regional approach. Much can be learnt from those contexts that have begun to address this complicated regional challenge and this can only benefit both the forensic practitioners and the families of Missing persons throughout the region. The plan for this session would be to have five (5) presentations followed by a round table discussion. The participants to the round table would be forensic practitioners from the contexts in the region that are dealing with these issues, i.e. BiH, Croatia, Serbia, and Kosovo, and those forensic practitioners who have given presentations and can contribute to the discussion.
