Edgar Eduardo Sacayón was born in Guatemala city, December 7 th, 1976. He grew up in Costa Rica during his first years of childhood and attended the Castella academy of Music and Arts. After that he moved to Birmingham. During the 90`s he returned to Guatemala where he studied a degree in Biology at San Carlos University. His interest in nature photography took him to meet Dr. Nicholas Hellmuth and became a technician at the Digital Imaging Lab at Francisco Marroquin University. Here he started his career in large format digital photography. As lab technician he learned color management for fine art reproduction and digital workflow for cultural heritage documentation and worked with the Ixchel Textile Museum and Popol Vuh Archaeological Museum photographing textiles and pre-columbian artifacts. During 2006 he co-founded FLAAR Mesoamerica, a small institution dedicated to the evaluation of technology for cultural heritage documentation. Some of their actual projects involve 3D modeling and prototyping of archaeological cities and pre- Columbian artifacts. In 2008 he worked closely to photographer Ange Bourda and Print Studio as a technical consultant in the production of the coffee table book Istmo. At the present time one of his photographic projects in association with the Ministry of Culture aims to protect La Paach a ceremonial dance thanking mother nature for corn, practiced by a group of elders in San Marcos, Guatemala. The documentation of the ritual will be presented as a candidate to UNESCO for cultural heritage protection status. As Biologist he works as consultant for several environmental organizations doing biodiversity assessments to promote protected areas and rural development. Beyond the Evident Aims to present Guatemala s cultural and natural heritage through a diffeent vision. Using a large format rotational camera with an infrared tri-linear scanning back and the most advanced post processing techniques the images can provide the viewer with a different perspective, a perspective that can reveal the beauty, misticism and immortality of our surroundings. Infrared light vibrates at a higher frequency than our normal sight and with the use of a pano adapter the camera can expand the barriers of our eyes. The goal of this exhibit is to enable the expectator to break a barrier of vision to go Beyond the Evident.
