DAY 1: USA - FRANCE (Wednesday) Fly overnight to Paris. DAY 2: PARIS - ROUEN (Thursday) Bienvenue en France! Your Forum French tour manager will greet you at the airport and remain with you throughout the duration of your trip. Transfer by private motor coach to the French High School in Rouen, Nomandie. Upon arrival, meet your host family and enjoy your first French dinner with them. DAY 3: EXCHANGE PROGRAM (Friday) Breakfast with your family before going to school with your pen pal. Attend regular classes with your pen pal. Have lunch at school. Afternoon activities organized by your hosting school. Have dinner and spend the evening with your family. DAYS 4 & 5: WEEKEND WITH FAMILY (Saturday-Sunday) DAY 6: EXCURSION TO MONT SAINT MICHEL (Monday) After breakfast with your family, a private motor coach will drive you to the breathtaking Mont Saint Michel. Classified as historical monument in 1874 and a UNESCO world heritage site since 1979, the island of Mont Saint Michel features a beautiful monastery that is visited by thousands annually. Mont Saint Michel represents one of the most amazing middle ages creations still preserved today. Follow your local guide for a visit of the Abbey and its surroundings. Drive back to Rouen and spend the evening with your family. DAY 7: EXCURSION TO THE D-DAY BEACHES (Tuesday) After breakfast in family, board your private motor coach and drive to Caen. Visit the Caen Memorial (Le Mémorial de Caen, un musée pour la paix), regarded as the best World War II museum in France. Then, see the Longues-sur-Mer artillery battery built by the Wehmacht during the WWII. Continue on towards Coleville sur Mer. The Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial is located on the site of the temporary American St. Laurent Cemetery, established by the U.S. First Army on June 8, 1944 as the first American cemetery on European soil in World War II. Make a stop at the Pointe du Hoc Ranger Memorial, commemorating the heroic raid of the American Second Ranger Battalion and the forces involved in the Normandy landings.
Continue to Bayeux and check in at your hotel. Enjoy a delicious Normand dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight accommodation in Bayeux. DAY 8: EXCURSION IN NORMANDY (Wednesday) After breakfast at your hotel, visit the Bayeux Museum to discover the Bayeux Tapestry, one of the greatest pieces of art from medieval times. It depicts the story of Harold, William the Conqueror, and the Norman conquest of England in 1066. Your private motor coach will then take you to Livarot, a village famous for its cheese. Visit a Norman dairy specialized in the production of the four Norman PDO cheeses, Livarot, Pont-l Eveque, Camembert de Normandie, Neufchatel. Visit and tour a local apple orchard where apple cider and juice are made. Savour a typical Norman dessert: la Tarte Normande. Drive back to Rouen for dinner and overnight accommodation with your French family. DAY 9: EXCHANGE PROGRAM (Thursday) DAY 10: EXCURSION TO VERSAILLES (Friday) Board a train to the Versailles Palace, the extravagant palace built for the Sun King. Louis XIV s palatial compound and spectacular gardens still wow visitors today just as they did during a period when nobles and mistresses filled the halls, hoping for a glimpse of the king himself. Enter the Château; walk in the footsteps of Louis XVI, Marie-Antoinette and of U.S. Presidents Jefferson and Wilson then explore the immaculately landscaped grounds and gardens of the palace. Return to Rouen by train for dinner and overnight accommodation with your family. DAY 11: ROUEN - PARIS (Saturday) After breakfast with your family, a private motor coach will take you to Paris where you will meet up with your French Forum Tour Manager. Free time for lunch. This afternoon, stroll down the most famous avenue of the capital, the Champs-Elysées. See the Arc de Triomphe and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Walk through le Trocadéro and see la Ville Lumière from the third floor of the Eiffel Tower. Have dinner at a local restaurant. Afterwards, board a glass-topped Bateau Mouche and enjoy a refreshing cruise on the Seine River. Overnight accommodation in Paris. DAY 12: RETURN (Sunday) Transfer to airport for your return flight home.
