Editors Comment. Three Rover Club Members attended the Oamaru Annual All British Car Day on Saturday 21st February 2015. Leaving the Dunedin North Gardens area at 8-30 am we had a pleasant drive to the Whitestone area Car Park in Oamaru for a 10 am cuppa Coffee with the first car away at 10-30 am. Signed the waver and paid $20, then off to study the route? As usual it was a well organised event with attendees chatting away the minutes before heading off on the rally itself. Around the periphery of Oamaru for a start and then off through Weston and inland to Duntroon. Then came the LOST section, and the follow the leader, WHO WAS LOST with a right turn instead of left. Correct 15 mintues later back at the turn and away to an identifiable junction.a short drive on the Livingston / Tokarahi sealed road again, right at the junction on a sealed road which was slowly narrowing, are we lost again? A sign displaying Children crossing, civilation again with the Danseyes Pass Motor Camp in sight. What a great destination, sunny, hot, a lazy river at the bottom of a terraced camping ground. A relaxing picnic lunch with approximately 30 British car present. Then a walk about followed by afternoon tea and prize presentation. Departing at 4-15pm with a pleasant return trip home. A great trip to Oamaru again.
IGNITION March 2015 We had an interesting trip out to our March meeting Tuesday night as they are resurfacing the road so had a long stretch with cones to keep the cars off the lane they were working on. This did not stop some drivers who decided that as the one lane was Tail to Bumper they would go in the other lane as far as possible then barged into the slow moving lane. Some mothers do have them. The Mosgiel RSA building is coming along slowly with the Kitchen still to be done. We will advise when meals are available again. See minutes for attendance & results of ARCC 2016 discussion. The Tom-Cat is fine with the occasional need to coax the starter. The SD1 may be going to the Far North in my old TV Repair Business stamping grounds only time will tell. I have also been in contact the Owner of the old Seacliffe Hospital and I will go out there one weekend to have a look around. Then we can decide when to fit the run & Picnic in. I brought up at the meeting the Question of if there is somebody in the club going to the upcoming ARCC Rally who could act as our rep. Please contact me for details. Also Norman mentioned that the BOB has been postponed possible to be in early Nov. I wondered why I had not been asked to attend any meetings. It better not clash with our Nove-Rove. That s all for now, DRIVE SAFE OUT THERE Jeff Sparrow President RCCOO. 3

NOVE ROVE 2015 Celebrating 10th Anniversary 7th & 8th November A basic plan has been put in place and accommodation has been booked. This years Rove will take us back to Wanaka, the destination of our very first Nove Rove back in 2005. We are hoping for a big turn out this year to celebrate the 10th Nove Rove weekend. This is by far the biggest Club event of the year, so please come and enjoy the people and the events we will have organised. Weekend planning so far includes a winery visit and possibly lunch, while there. Visits to the ever changing Toy and Motor museum, War Birds car museum, maybe Puzzle World, along with some interesting seldom travelled roads. Saturday night we will stay at the Wanaka Hotel where we will have our evening meal and presentations in the Hotels Beanie Cafe. Fixed menu to be advised later. For the petrol heads in the club, for the Sunday you may chose to attend the Highland park 101 race event. Due to this race weekend accommodation will be very tight. Please make early bookings with Wanaka Hotel where I have 20 rooms on hold, you can always cancel later if things turn to custard. I have cracked a very good deal, with Lake view (stairs) or Garden view (ground floor) rooms for $110 each. Standard hotel rooms at $99 or Compact hotel rooms at $85. All rooms have on-suites, tea and coffee and small fridge. Please ring Wanaka Hotel on 03 443 7826 or e-mail at wanakahotel@xtra.co.nz Quote Rover Car Club of Otago and reference number 54868. By quoting these details you will receive the special discount rate. More details will be notified through magazine as we sort them out. There will be the usual registration fee to help cover costs but I will place a registration form in a following magazine. The first and most important thing is to get your Hotel booking made. Thank you Bernie Halford, 03 4876 870 or bshalford@xtra.co.nz 6
