Situated on the southwest of South Jeolla Province, it became a separate province in 1946 and is now Korean s favorite honeymoon and holiday destination as the island provides a peaceful atmosphere far from the bustling city of Seoul as well as very picturesque sceneries. In Jeju Island visitors can find various natural World Heritage Sites such as Hallasan Mountain, Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak) and Lava Tubes, waterfalls, unique rock formations and beautiful beaches with clear turquoise waters where one can try various marine activities. Cheonjiyeon Waterfalls Cheonjiyeon Falls are also named The Pond of God, as according to a legend seven fairies serving the King of Heaven came down to the pond on stairs of clouds and bathed in its clean waters. 22m high and surrounded by numerous rare plants, the waterfall is one of the top attractions on Jeju Island. The subtropical path leading to the waterfalls will guide you over a bridge with a wide variety of koi fish below while the waterfall pond is inhabited by eels. Since they illuminate the falls at night, it is a popular place for lovers. Cheonjiyeon Waterfalls Soesokkak Estuary Soesokkak Estuary is lined with cliffs of curious lava formations, which are overhung by pine trees. Here the water takes on the deep blue of the ocean, as the river and sea meet, and the scenery is very picturesque. It is one of the best recreational spots on the island as visitors can do kayaking and other kinds of water activities. People have been crossing this estuary for hundreds of years by using flat wooden boats pulled by a long rope between the two banks. Seosokkak Estuary
Jeongbang Waterfalls Around 23 meters high, Jeongbang Falls is the only waterfall in Asia that falls directly into the ocean. It is situated on a high cliff by the sea, and an old evergreen stands there leaning back as if it was going to fall into the ocean. There is an observatory at the top of the cliff, from which you can have a good view of the sea. Oedolgae Rock The Oedolgae Rock is 10 meters in circumference and 20 meters high. It is also known as the Changgun Rock.This rock surrounded by beautiful islands and the ocean is a really good spot to watch the sunset! Oedolgae is one of the shooting locations of the famous Korean drama Daejanggeum. Maze Land Maze Land is a themed park boasting the world s longest stone maze, measuring roughly 5.3km in total length. It is made mainly using stone and wood found on Jeju and is created to reflect the Jeju s three principle items or Samda, which describes the things abundant on Jeju Island: rocks, wind, and women.
Yakcheonsa Temple Yakcheonsa Temple is one of the Buddhist temples of the early Joseon Dynasty. It is the largest temple in the East. Jusangjeolli cliff Jusangjeolli cliff is composed of stone pillars piled up along the coast and it is a designated cultural monument of Jeju Island. The rock pillars are shaped like cubes or hexagons of various sizes and it almost seems as if stonemasons had carved them out. Teddy Bear Museum Come to the Teddy Bear Museum where you can see teddy bears from various countries. All of the Teddy Bears displayed are handcraft works, and they are dressed and put in particular situations to create impressive and cute exhibitions around various historical or artistic themes. The old teddy bears and animatronics will make you feel nostalgic! You can also enjoy yourself at the museum shop, cafe, restaurant or the outdoor park from where you can watch the spectacular Jungmun Sea.
Seongeup Folk Village Seongeup Folk Village is a small town which holds a vast amount of culture. There, you will be able to see the residential houses, Confucian shrines and schools. Seopjikoji Seopjikoji is the shooting location of the Korean Drama All in. This place is one of the most perfect areas to enjoy the spreading Canola flowers with the breathtaking coastal rock shapes in Spring. The seashore is particularly beautiful and a walking path leads you to the lighthouse atop the hill to enjoy the view. Manjanggul Cave Manjanggul Cave is one of the finest lava tunnels in the world, and is a designated natural monument. As there are rare animals such as bats living in it, it makes this tunnel valuable for researchers as well. The stone pillars and stalactites are widely spread and the tunnel shows off the cave s topographical features.
Seongsan Ilchulbong Ilchul-bong It also goes by the name of Sunrise Peak. It rose from under the sea during a volcanic eruption which took place over 100,000 years ago, this is why there is a huge crater at the top of it. The sun rising from the crater with the bright yellow colored rapeseed flowers is a magnificent sight to witness during springtime. Various trails are available for visitors to climb to the peak, and your efforts will be rewarded by the wonderful view of the island from the top of it. Woljeong Beach Woljeong beach is a good place to relax. You can enjoy a drink in the stylish coffee shops, watch the picturesque scenery with the beautiful white sand.
