WELCOME TO RENT 2018 In November 2018 we would like to welcome you all to the RENT Conference, hosted at the World Heritage City of Toledo (Spain), one of the Campuses of the University of Castilla La Mancha. The theme of this year Conference is «Sustainable Entrepreneurship : A win win strategy for the future». Entrepreneurs have realized in the last decades that they can contribute to social welfare as well as to a sustainable economy. In this sense, entrepreneurs increasingly place sustainability next to profitability within their business objectives. In this sense, the study of sustainable entrepreneurship has also gained prominence among scholars although is still considered an emergent research stream, still on its infancy. In order to provide fruitful research that helps to support sustainable entrepreneurship, as a way to stimulate regional and global competitiveness within a sustainable developing thinking we propose this theme for the conference. In its thirty years of operation, the UCLM has provided young people with access to higher education and has energized the life in the cities where its campuses have been established: Ciudad Real, Albacete, Cuenca and Toledo, as well as Almadén and Talavera de la Reina. THE CITY OF TOLEDO Toledo, located in central Spain is the capital of the autonomous community of Castilla La Mancha. Toledo was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986 for its extensive monumental and cultural heritage. Toledo is known as the "Imperial City" for having been the main venue of the court of Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor, and as the "City of the Three Cultures" for the cultural influences of Christians, Muslims and Jews reflected in its history. It was also the capital of the ancient Visigothic kingdom of Hispania, which followed the fall of the Roman Empire, and the location of historic events such as the Visigothic Councils of Toledo. Toledo has a long history in the production of bladed weapons, which are now popular souvenirs of the city. It is located 9 miles / 15 km from the center of Madrid. This airport has four passenger terminals, but most international flights arrive to Terminals 1 and 4. There are several ways to travel from Madrid to Toledo: By Car Several rental car companies can be found in Madrid Barajas Airport. Tel: +34 901 201 212 It takes about one hour to arrive from Adolfo Suárez Madrid Barajas airport to Toledo by car (without heavy traffic). By High Speed Train (AVE) There are usually 15 high speed trains that travel between Madrid Puerta de Atocha railway station and Toledo. The first train leaves Madrid at 06:50 and the last train departs at 21:50. Puerta de Atocha is a large station with several sections. The high speed trains to Toledo depart from the 'AVE' section. There is a RENFE office in the airport (arrival area of Terminal 1 and 4) where you can obtain further information about trains. It departs at 12.30 from Terminal 4 and the price is 5.37. Tickets can be purchased at https://www.alsa.com/en/web/bus/home Additionally, ALSA buses connect Toledo with Madrid and run every 30 minutes. Buses start at 06:00, running until 23:00, and later on Sunday and public holidays. They depart from Plaza Elíptica Station at Madrid and arrive at Toledo's bus station. The simplest way to reach Plaza Elíptica Station from Barajas Airport and your Hotel from Toledo's Bus Station is by taxi. CONFERENCE LOCATION The pre conference activities will take place at the Convent of San Pedro Martir (calle San Clemente s/n), where the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences is located It is noted particularly for its splendid Moorish tower and graves and praying sculptures, including those of the Counts of Melito that inspired the legend The Kiss by Gustavo Adolfo Becquer.
